Pirates' Nady drawing interest

The market is mounting for the Pirates' most likely trade pieces, outfielder Xavier Nady and reliever Damaso Marte. Add the Yankees to the list of potential suitors for Nady. The Rays, who are loaded with prospects, also are interested, as are the Mets, who are far from loaded in that area. The Braves have tested the water but remain on the periphery.

ughh giving up nady in the first place was bad gettin him back would be geat

Pittsburgh has the best outfield in baseball this year. They can parlay that into a great future if they play their cards right.

July 13, 2008  10:39 AM ET

Nady and Marte for the Rays' top prospect, David Price, and an outfield prospect.

July 13, 2008  11:22 AM ET

I wish the Pirates would keep Nady, Bay, and Nate, but that is very unlikely. Therefore, I hope they get value for whoever they trade because these guys are studs!

July 13, 2008  11:50 AM ET

Send Marte to the Brewers please.....like YESTERDAY man!!

July 13, 2008  12:22 PM ET

Mozeliak should be making these guys on the Pirates his priority, if Fuentes is not his priority

July 13, 2008  01:53 PM ET

I guess the pirates are the big league farm team for the rest of the MLB every year they trade away great young players, and every year they are dead Last in baseball.why do they bother to have a team?if its money then why not move to a place with a big market?

July 13, 2008  02:12 PM ET

hahahahahahahah you're joking right Tell it like it is? I always love a good laugh in the afternoon

July 13, 2008  02:18 PM ET

hahahaha, thanks for the laugh tell it like it is. Always in the mood for one...

July 13, 2008  05:43 PM ET

The Pirates are in selling mode. As usual. If they could pry David Price from the Rays for a solid OF and a solid reliever, then they might do it. The Rays don't have a dire need for starting pitchers right now, and they have a couple more in the pipeline.

July 13, 2008  06:07 PM ET

Tell it like it is the Rays would NEVER give up Price for that little. The Pirates would not only jump all over that deal but you wouldnt even have to throw in another OF prospect. Im pretty sure Turbo meant that the Rays would never do that, not des Buccos.

July 13, 2008  06:08 PM ET

There are only two Pirates I would trade for - Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell and neither is avaiable unfortunately !!!

July 13, 2008  08:45 PM ET

David Price is going no where,he is a top lefty prospect who may be a no.1.Even if a tem is stacked at SP, a team should never part with a possible no.1 lefty SP.Especially one that is so close too the majors.

July 13, 2008  10:32 PM ET

I agree, but look at how little Cleveland got for CC. Nady and Marte are established big leaguers. Price has proven nothing in the bigs.

July 13, 2008  11:41 PM ET

Price is a #1 overall SP, he's a LHP that hits 99 mph into the 7th inning, I'd say w/ his contract term and health he is absolutely the jewel pitching prospect of MLB's future. He's not going anywhere and is the real deal.

July 14, 2008  12:06 AM ET

how LITTLE Cleveland got for CC? dude you must be joking. They got a top tier OF power hitting prospect who is almost big league ready and CC already said hes not resigning with the Trive

thats the best move the Tibe have made in a WHILE. You are undercutting prospects dude.

Agreed. Since Cleveland is essentially now counting this season as a lost cause, getting quality prospects the right move.

July 14, 2008  08:06 AM ET

Mets won't make any outfielder moves before the deadline. Church is coming back at the end of the month, and Tatis and Chavez have left field taken care of.

Losing Alou for the season may be a great thing for the Mets.

July 14, 2008  08:33 AM ET

The ONLY chance the Pirates have to even think about being competative is to build through their own system and Littlefield screwed the pooch on that one. I say trade anyone you can as long it is for real prospects and not the crap we got in the past. It's time to truly rebuild around young guys like McCutchen, Doumit and McClouth. Strike while the iron is hot boys!
