Vikings safety Darren Sharper played alongside three-time MVP quarterback Brett Favre for eight seasons in Green Bay. But, amid speculation that Favre might be interested in joining the Vikings, Sharper quickly backed his current quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson. "T-Jack is our guy," Sharper said. "I have the utmost confidence in Tarvaris. "With the team we have, I think we can make it to the Super Bowl." Sharper was coy when asked about Favre. "Brett in Minnesota? Man, the Packers aren't going to let him go," he said. When asked what he would think if they did, Sharper said: "I don't know. I don't evaluate offensive players." Sharper, though, made clear that he believes Jackson can lead the Vikings.

I am PRAYING that the tv anouncers don't start using that 'T-Jack' reference.

Tarvaris might want to frame this picture because he won't be doing this pose a lot this year. First down hand the ball # 28. Second down hand the ball # 28.Third down hand the ball # 28. Fourth down hand the ball # 28.

D-Sharp giving props to T-Jack while not insulting B-Man. Is he hanging with the Grahm-**** in J-Ville?......yo.

Viking Vet's are doing the right thing. They know there isn't a chance in hell that the Packers would ever let BF go to the Vikings so they need to rally around the QB they are "stuck with."

July 14, 2008  06:45 AM ET

You have to back your QB, and Jackson needs all the help he can get.

July 14, 2008  07:11 AM ET

Put Sharper's hand on a bible and ask the same question. I bet you get a different answer..

July 14, 2008  08:29 AM ET

I got to learn not to drink my coffee while reading these stories..lol..good luck with Jackson..Why did I think about coach Smith from Chicago when I read this? T-Jack is our Qback.hmm(thinking about Rex)..smh...

July 14, 2008  08:42 AM ET

T-Jack? guess it could have been worse for him, if his last name were Bagby or something to that effect..

July 14, 2008  08:43 AM ET

Yes, good teams can have great seasons with average QB's. Sigh, I suspect this may be another season of the defense giving up 6 points and the offense scoring 3.

July 14, 2008  08:43 AM ET

What's he gonna say...the truth?? Jackson is Corn hole Stewart all over again. Good luck with this guy Sharper.

July 14, 2008  08:47 AM ET

T-Jack is the worst thing that has ever happened to the Queens. I watched this guy play every game last year and he is horrible. He is brainless when it comes to reading defenses, just a down right aweful QB. I bet by week 3 their back up Fergot will be starting the rest of the year.

July 14, 2008  08:47 AM ET

Tavaris can lead the Vikings, as long as they have solid receivers. With their defense, Tavaris can be just good, not great, and they can get to the playoffs. It'll be difficult though, because Green Bay is looking just as good defensively.

The worst thing to happen to the Vies was Spergyon Wynn and Troy WIlliamson. This is the year for the kid if it's going to happen. And he was the only player that showed up in hte last game against Denver last year. We shall see if him and Berrian get that chemistry since tJack was only comfortable throwing to slow little bobby wade last year.

Given the chance to have a MVP/Superbowl winning QB over "T-Jack" i think he would take Farve, if the reports are right and the think that the vikings have a shot at the superbowl this year, a real shot is having Farve as the QB...

July 14, 2008  10:06 AM ET

The Vikes have no shot at getting Favre. The Packers aren't stupid. This guy is just blowing smoke, saying the things that teammates have to say. If Favre were cut, Minnesota management would strain a groin calling Favre.

July 14, 2008  10:14 AM ET

Tarvaris Jackson is going to be a lot better this year and so will the Vikings.

July 14, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Tarvaris needs the vets on this team behind him....Maybe Dr. Z isn't so crazy this year after all!!!!

"Tarvaris Jackson is going to be a lot better this year and so will the Vikings."

Way to go out there on a limb. It's not that hard to improve from being one of the worst starters in the NFL.

I swear - I never knew Vikingfan to be so deluded. With all of those SB appearancess, they'll be the the Buffalo Bills of the NFC. The guy will never be anything more than Quincy Carter.
