Agent: Posey near decision
Posted: Monday July 14, 2008 05:00AM ET
Celtics forward James Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstien, said Sunday that there could be "something" contract-wise for his client on Monday. Bartelstien would not divulge the interested teams, but an NBA source said that the Hornets seem to be Boston's main competition. The Celtics seem willing to give Posey the full $5.5 mid-level exception, but it seems doubtful that it will be offered more than two years. The 31-year-old seems interested in getting a four-year deal. Other teams potentially interested in Posey include Detroit, Washington and Cleveland.

Thanks for the non-story T&R. Why don't you get back to us when there IS a decision of some type? Much appreciated.

Report Offensive CommentIn other news, Steve Nash said he was still going to play point guard next season, and Ron Artest put the over and under on how many games till he whiggs out on the court at 27.

Report Offensive CommentIt's a choice for Posey,
who will go where it's rosy.
He can stay in Bean Town,
or he can wear a clean gown.
If he goes to the Big Easy,
things may get queasy,
where the fast-paced game of ball,
at the hands of Chris Paul,
makes things interesting indeed,
if they take the West's top seed.
The ring is at stake,
so James - don't make a mistake!!

Report Offensive CommentNice prose Jay L!
I hope Posey and the C's meet in the middle and ink a 3 yr deal.

Report Offensive CommentOh another story on James Posey,
Stay in Boston where things are Rosey,
Can't blame for wanting a 4 yr deal,
You are 30, but its time to get real,
How about a 3yr MLE at best,
Stick with KG and pound your chest,
Please stay in Boston where you kick ****,
Ray hits 3's and Perkins pounds the glass,
We all want number 18 and thats The Truth,
Just like that guy in Goonies...Baby Ruth!
Be a real man and defend your title ring,
This way JL and I won't have to sing,
His raps are ill'n and maybe the best,
Team up with KG again and put this to rest.

PS - Shout out to JL

Report Offensive Commentcoming back would make him an even ibber fan favorite than he already was
Celticsfan57638 | 07/14/08, 10:29 AM
Report Offensive CommentPosey has shown no signs of decline. Boston would be smart to keep him. He's a legitimate 3 point threat, and an excellent defender. Give the guy his money and move on to more pressing matters. Pat Riley made the same mistake. Look how that turned out.

Report Offensive CommentHe is FOOLISH if he goes anywhere else........
unless some other team is blowing the mid-level offer out of the water-
which is unlikely- or else he would've taken that already

Report Offensive CommentJay L. u mad nice with the rhymes yo lemme try 1:
Posey or as i call him the defensive clutch,
that can shoot & play d so much.
he has nba rings not a grammy,
he should remain a celtic wouldnt mind if he came back 2 miami.
this is 1 guy in the leauge that should never be dissed,
if it ever happened i sure would be pissed.
still think he sould return 2 miami as such,
but its the choice of the 1 & only defensive clutch.

Report Offensive CommentThe Lakers need to make of a push for him. He was HUGE in the Finals and he is the type of player the Lakers need to improve toughness. He hit big shots and played hard-nosed defense. That's exactly what they need.
Hoffa The Great | 07/14/08, 11:48 AM
