Source: Forsberg out until '09
If you're an Avalanche fan still holding out hope Peter Forsberg will play again this coming season, don't even think about it until at least Christmas. After consulting with more doctors about his troubled right foot in his native Sweden, Forsberg was told he would need several months of rehabilitation if he wanted to have hope of playing again, a source close to the Avalanche star said. Forsberg, plagued the last few years by a bad right ankle, which also causes him other injuries such as pulled groins, has not decided to retire. He still hopes to play again this season, and his situation could unfold much as it did with the Avs last season.

my 4 year old could tell you that signing him would inevitably be a waste of money...sign him, give him a couple mill, he gives you a couple games (if your lucky)...goes on DL with mysterious foot/ankle ailment...repeat cycle in '10.
hang em up pete...I'll give you this: you were much better than that clown lindros (drafted ahead of you) ever was.

Lindros wasn't only drafted ahead of Foppa, the Nordiques traded Lindros for Foppa in typical Philadelphia fashion.

I'd say that in hindsight the Avs/nordiques franchise is very thankful to mr. lindros...

Hell no! You all are wrong! Bring Forsberg back! He's a force to be reckoned with. I would love to see him play again! The way he sees the ice and the way he can feather passes is unparralled! He's third on the NHL All-Time assists list per game, trailing only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. He is a playmaking machine.
Can't wait till he's in the Hall of Fame.

He's only 34. How many of you guys that posted are under 34 years old?? I'm 25, and I can't even dream of doing any of the amazing things he does on a hockey rink. I am dying to see more Forsberg. I grew up watching and admiring him.
If you think 34 makes him an old man, who out there that is 34 years old actually thinks they can do half of what he does??

34 is what his birth certificate says... his bones are about 91.
The guy was a great player, noone in here has said otherwise... but he should have retired yesterday. These injuries are not going anywhere. There are no miracles for him. He joins the ranks of other great players who had to face reality and accept his fate. (Orr being the best example)
