Tour players aware of cheaters?

07:22 AM ET 07.14 | In a recent online poll of more than 7,000 golfers, 70 percent said they cheated on the course. A 2002 survey of 400 top business executives reported that 82 percent admitted to cheating at golf. Around the same time, PGA Tour caddies were questioned about cheating, and 26 percent said they had seen players cheat on tour. And who hasn't heard a story about some American president who took frequent liberties with the Rules of Golf? In many golf circles, there is no more damaging aspersion than to be labeled a cheat. And yet, Wayne Glad, an Illinois clinical psychologist who has worked extensively with college and pro athletes, including golfers said the PGA Tour players he deals with are aware of colleagues who cheat. "They'll talk to each other about certain guys," Glad said. "They'll say, 'You ever notice how often so-and-so coughs in your backswing.' "

'Cough in your backswing'? When was that cheating? Not honorable, but also not outside the rules. Let's hear some hard facts about the real cheaters, if they exist.

Yeah I mean I thought cheating was like, moving the ball or something. Coughing during a backswing? Learn to concentrate - bball players make free throws amid boos, NFL kickers make 40+ yard field goals in 70,000+ seat stadiums.

OH PLeeeeeeeaaassseeeee !! Coughing in your backswing isnt cheating its just rude.Illegal balls, illegal drops, moving your ball ,all that stuff is cheating and with all the officials on hand at a golf tournament along with the gallery and fellow players i find it hard to believe annyone coud get away with cheating let alone try. Im not saying tour pros wouldnt cheat(im sure a few would) but i cant see it happening and if they did and got caught their career would be over as they would be a pariah just like certain players in another professional sport caught cheating by taking stuff to make them better!

If you are on tour playing for millions and someone repeatedly coughs in your backswing, you need to man up and tell him to **** while you are swinging. If he dont stop, do it back to him, or resort to fistacuffs.

Thats what the PGA tour needs, a good brawl on the 13th green!

So if you are playing golf with your doctor, and he says, 'turn your head and cough', that's cheating???

July 14, 2008  11:15 AM ET

How about sneezing, burping or farting?

I knew a NFl PLAYER .. Who cheated so much .. he was banned from
participating in golf tounaments for several years .. he had a reputation
for lowering his score .. I also chaired several tournaments where the
best cheaters won .. scoring eagles on all the par fives .. and they were
20 plus handicaps .. every body will cheat .. unless you have scorers
present on the course .. enjoy the game .. not the score ..

Cheaters in the weekend, passive and so called "buddy" game of golf?! Who would have ever thought that? Golly, I always had thought that golfers were real gentlemen. I am TOTALLY shocked.....lmao. Have another beer at the club house.

This why I started to carry a gun in my bag.

God gave us the right to carry guns, and it would be a waste of time to not use them in cases they are needed. Even my mother thought so. I can still remember her last words; "are you sure you unloaded that gun?" I miss her, but not as much as I would miss my right to carry a gun on the golf course!

this comes as no surprise to me.
as long as there has been sports, there have been cheaters
and as long as sports exist in any country there will be cheaters
it is human nature

I've cheated many times on the course. I am not gonna wait two hours to tee off for 50 bucks, be hurried through a round, and not get something in return !!! I'll take a "Mulligan", drop a new ball for one I can't find, and give myself a better lie and forget a stroke hear and there. I'm just being honest !!! P.S. And I don't feel guilty at all !!!

Kyle Busch deals with all of the above and more Every Day, but I'll tell you one thing, you cough while I'm back swinging, I'll clean your clock with the club!
