Ravens unlikely to pursue Favre

The Ravens are unlikely to show interest in acquiring retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, a team source said. The team is set to hold an open competition among Troy Smith, Kyle Boller and Joe Flacco in training camp. One obstacle facing the Ravens if they were to acquire Favre is salary cap space. The Ravens need to sign most of their draft picks, including No.1 pick Flacco, and they are working on a new contract for Terrell Suggs.

I am sure Ray Lewis, who's window is closing rapidly and wants to win now, would tell you differently.

Brett Favre, a big story he is.

Wherever he ends up, it matters not, for big news it will be.

A great QB he is, and sell lots of tickets, his new team will.

The Ravens are more than just a QB away from the playoffs anyway--they have a sieve for an O-line and those WR's are below average...

Brett, you said you was done after playing the Giants! And, we all saw that you was done after young Manning handed your b*utt to you with such ease. We all believed you, accepted it and moved on. Now, with all the acrimony you're generating by trying to claw your way back in, you're destroying the image of you we've all admired!

Please go away, Brett! Enjoy the fruits of your labors! You have nothing left to prove, except that maybe you are becoming a bitter old man in your old age!

i think they are fine with smith and falcco(if signed) - let boller away...
cap space is of course an issue, even with lewis expiring contract.
so, i dont see favre in a ravens uniform, its time for a change - to the youth!

We'll see how long that lasts. If Boller, Flacco, and Smith all look bad in preseason then they may change their tune real quick. Not surprising that they would have salary cap issues though. They got a defense with a number of perennial all stars and an overall veteran team with a number of guys making above the minimum.

Favre is NOT coming to Charm City, end of story.

Also, i don't know why people like Loveland think the Ravens o-line is so bad. They will have one of the top interior lines in the nfl this year with 2nd year stud Ben Grubbs at LG, Jason Brown at his natural position, center, after dominating at LG last year, and 2nd year man Marshal Yanda at RG after playing well at RT when Adam Terry went down hurt.

The main concern will be the tackle spots, but I think people will be surprised how the Ravens will be fine at tackle even without Ogden there.

They will be a great run blocking o-line, that I can tell you for a fact will be better than their pass blocking, which I still say will be okay. Plus, Troy Smith will be the starter IMO and he's built better to escape pressure than Boller and Flacco are.

The Houston Oilers are unlikely to pursue Favre either.
