Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, the NBA's No. 1 draft pick, pleaded guilty Monday to speeding and was fined $1,000, placed on court supervision for 6 months and ordered to take an online driving course offered through Kane County. "I learn from my mistakes," Rose said after his brief court appearance in Geneva. Rose, 19, who grew up in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, was ticketed April 29 for going more than 100 m.p.h. on Interstate Highway 88 near Aurora.

He drives like he plays the game. Fast and Furious.

Ok, I apologize that was lame.

$1000? 6 months supervision? This is a little overboard if you ask me. I have received my share of tickets over 100mph and only had to pay the ticket. Of course I had to sit through a lecture about safe driving from the cop and that I could be arrested blah blah blah. Then I make friends, apologize, get my ticket and drive off. This is just wierd to me that he got so much for a speeding ticket. Is there more to the story? He msut have done something more to piss the cop off after he was pulled over. Maybe he was too ****.... who knows.

- as long as he wasn't drunk or chopping up coke in the back seat-
it is a NON STORY

Dont be another dui Melo bra!

It depends on the state. In California, it is just a ticket, and in MD, it is a ticket and a bunch of crap, In VA, your butt goes to jail.

Why do I have to hear about this guy every day? First on getting a mosquito bite, then a speeding ticket. So what is next? Maybe the headlines tomorrow will be about him taking a large dump.

Expensive joy ride...

July 15, 2008  09:30 AM ET

And everyone talked about Beasley's character issues... Beasley is out doing this lil boy on and off the court... I predict Beasley will average twice as many points AND rebounds as Rose this year, be Rookie of the year, AND be selected to the All-Star game.

Rose isn't being asked to score and rebound. His role is to run this team and get his assists. And about Beasley "outdoing" Rose, he shoots the ball 5 times more than Rose does, so of course he's going to score more.

ps. And if going over the speed limit is ground for "character issues," then every player in the league has issues.

Well maybe we could all hear a story on Brett Favre! That would be original.

At 19 years old, if someone had "fronted" me an $80,000 car, I probably would have done the same thing. Play ball.

I once went 100 mph for about five seconds until my twenty year old Chevy's engine seized up - it's amazing how fast you go from 100 to 0 mph !!!

haha lol

I think everyone on this site has at least one moving violation, NEXT!!

July 15, 2008  12:30 PM ET

This is a complete non-issue. Who doesn't speed on an empty highway at 3 AM? God knows I have done 120 on the NJ Turnpike about a million times over the last 7 years. It means nothing...move on!

Fine upstanding young man, worked hard all those years, deserves millions.
