Miami is believed to have interest in Ron Artest and be willing to part with Shawn Marion, whose $17.1 million deal also is expiring. As will be the case with most suitors, the question will be whether the Kings can include forward Kenny Thomas and his deal that includes two more seasons and approximately $18 million.

As if the Heat couldn't get any worse.

Although Artest would be good for the Heat, Thomas' contract wont. Also, they shouldn't get rid of Marion... He's an up tempo guy and they need that...

July 15, 2008  09:24 AM ET

Yes, let's part with all-star Shawn Marion so we can bring in an absolute bum in Ron Artest. Way to go Heat.

July 15, 2008  09:37 AM ET

I like Artest but that would be a better trade for the Kings then the Heat.

July 15, 2008  09:49 AM ET

Artest sucks .. he'll prolly get arrested in the off-season!

July 15, 2008  09:54 AM ET

On the other hand the Heat have nowhere to go but up.

July 15, 2008  10:06 AM ET

Marion for Artest???? They need help but need to keep Marion.

July 15, 2008  10:23 AM ET

Good trade for Sacramento, not so much for Miami. They need to find replaces for the 2 most important positions in basketball, the center and point guard. Marion brings scoring and rebounding to the table, and they lack that.

July 15, 2008  10:37 AM ET

I think ARTEST already has enough "heat" doesn't need to have it plastered on his uniform !!!

July 15, 2008  10:45 AM ET

Trading Marion for Artest is a bad move for the Heat, which means Riley will most likely do it. What an idiot.

July 15, 2008  10:45 AM ET

I don't understand why the heat get so abused here on FN.......

seriously speaking-
IF HEALTHY
they have a franchise caliber 2 guard in wade
a fantastic rebounding/athletic #3 option in Marion
A solid PF in Haslem - average-
A top 2 pick- scoring Forward- in Beasley

Yes they need a point gurad- BUT
a servicable point guard to complement wade is what they need- NOT a stud
same thing with their center-
they need a body to bang, rebound & hit an open jumper

They aren't as 'far off' as people think-

July 15, 2008  10:52 AM ET

artest and beasley are both the same position it is dumb for the heat

July 15, 2008  10:56 AM ET

Dont think that would be a great idea

July 15, 2008  11:06 AM ET

no dont do it! marion rebounds scores steals blocks

July 15, 2008  11:33 AM ET

Riley just wants anything the Lakers do, like the jealous kid who gets in the middle of trade between two others, offering up his new bike in what was a skate board swap.

I have never seen a team trade, buy and flip so many players.

It never stops, and Riley looks like a clown juggling players, envious eyes always seeking to add new ones to toss into the air.

July 15, 2008  11:35 AM ET

After Stockton2Malone, Deron2Carlos ain't that bad... The Jazz may be needing some more key players off the bench to complete their squad, but they're already good. So go for Deron, a tremendous PG...

July 15, 2008  11:41 AM ET

Shawn Marion is my guy. Pat Riley should use the what remains from his legs to just run as fast as he can, and sign that cat, before anyone else do. SM can just do it all on both ends of the court and the Heat would make a big mistake losing him.

P.S. Sorry for the msg right before about DW & Utah, I put it on the wrong place

July 15, 2008  11:48 AM ET

I dont know why they are so quick to do away w/Marion. Him and Wade didnt get a chance to work theit magic together. We saw a glimpse of it but then Wade got injured. If he wants to trade him off so bad i say the spurs trade Udoka,Oberto and Horry for Marion. (-)-(-)

July 15, 2008  11:49 AM ET

Lakers "rumor" seemed to have incited more interest in Artest. As far as Marion is concerned, his role on the Heat is done now that they have Beasley.

July 15, 2008  11:55 AM ET

As a Laker fan I would rather see the Lakers get in contact with the Heat and see about a Odom for Marion deal. I don't know if the Heat would want it, but as a Laker fan I would prefer Marion to Artest.
