Utley sorry for cursing NY crowd

Look at it this way: Chase Utley probably isn't the first person to tell New York sports fans to (bleep) off. Although such comments generally play well in a city that has never hid its dislike of its neighbor to the north, Utley apologized last night for a remark that was caught by a live ESPN microphone during introductions for the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium. After the Phillies second baseman heard a chorus of boos from the crowd when he was introduced, Utley was heard responding, "Boo? [Bleep] you."

Good for Utley. F them all.

Why do people have to constantly apologize for things. He cursed, so what. Get over it.

Exactly, Chase, "----" New York. They treat everyone like dirt and want to be treated like royalty. Utley is one of the greatest players in the league right now, and they booed him at an All Star event. Let him curse, I say. If a Met or Yankee had done that in Philly, it would be "Philly fans deserve it".

Exactly! More importantly, if we would have booed an all-star, it would have been front page news and espn would have had a field day. But for some reason it's ok for people in NY to act like idiots and get away with it.

F THEM. F THEM IN THEIR F'N EARS.

Chase Utley, you are the man! Seriously, who boos at the home run derby? New York smells....John Rocker had a point.

July 15, 2008  09:02 AM ET

July 15, 2008  09:05 AM ET

July 15, 2008  09:25 AM ET

July 15, 2008  09:28 AM ET

Chase is awesome! Seriously, who boos at an all-star game?! Oh yea, losers from NY! I guess they were upset that steroid prone Giambi & his **** mustache wasnt in it! hahahahaha ****!

July 15, 2008  09:46 AM ET

muck the fets.

July 15, 2008  09:52 AM ET

Chase, they don't call it Filthadelphia for nothing buddy.

July 15, 2008  09:53 AM ET

Utley was one of seven players wearing a microphone for ESPN; only Milwaukee's Ryan Braun was not miked.

Nice, so he forgot he had a mike on him? Intelligence is not his strong suit.

July 15, 2008  10:01 AM ET

I agree with Troy.....get over it. The only negative is the kids listening that may have heard it and then repeat it......but the NY fans deserve it for booing during a HR derby

July 15, 2008  10:10 AM ET

Ef him.

July 15, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Boo him during the game, even louder, think they won't?
Eff him.

July 15, 2008  10:14 AM ET

He didnt forget he was miked, the players are told that their mics are on a delay & it was obvious that it wasnt ...

July 15, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Pretty sure that if a mike is on you then you watch what you say. Delay or no delay.

July 15, 2008  10:23 AM ET

and how do you know they're on delay. are you the mike guy at the All Star game?

July 15, 2008  10:26 AM ET

Then whats the point of having a delay, if players have to watch they say ...
The whole point of having a mic delay, is to catch those kinds of mistakes, this isnt Utley's fault!

July 15, 2008  10:27 AM ET

No, ****, the FCC requires them after what happened w/ Janet Jackson's **** ...
