Francisco Rodriguez said Monday that he plans to file for free agency after the season, setting the stage for one of three prominent decisions facing the Angels this winter. Rodriguez, on pace to set the major league record for saves in a season, said he would not rule out re-signing with the Angels but would no longer consider an extension before soliciting offers from other teams.

Dear Mr. K-Rod: Say "Yes" to Michigan!! Not only are we famous for crime and political corruption, but we throw tons of money at atheletes these days!

Ha! True that TGRFAN1!

K-Rod will get big dollars from someone. Closers are overrated though.

I heard he wants somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 a year?! For a closer?????? Hahaha, someone slap him

That is what Mariano makes and he is overpaid.

Tough decision for the Angels. They have Shields and young Arredondo in the bullpen too

He will get more than BJ Ryan got a couple of years ago if he becomes a free agent. Ryan is good but Rodriguez is jext amazing.

WOW, you're right! Rivera would be the set-up guy and K-Rod would close. Awesome. Great idea.

last season for Rivera

I don't think the Angels are going to waste 15 million or so a year on K-Rod long-term since they have Shields and Arredondo to potentially close. The money would be better spent on a hitter since the Angels have lacked any type of threatening offense for years now. Buyer beware though! Anyone that watches K-Rod regularly knows that his saves are always nail-biters since he has a tendency to walk a lot of batters due to his wild delivery. Another concern is that his K's are down this year and his velocity has been down.

This is VERY DISTURBING. I know the draw of big money is a constant, but where has loyalty gone? Did nobody learn from the likes of Tim Salmon who just wanted to play ball for THEIR team rather than shop the market and turn their backs on the team that gave them their start. He was a no name until the Angels gave him a shot and then he blew up. I can see where he will be looking for the big money and other teams are gonna drive dump trucks of it to his house. I too can see him in pinstripes unfortunately....the Empire will once again corrupt another great young talent.
