Dooling blasts Magic over offer
Posted: Tuesday July 15, 2008 09:02AM ET
Keyon Dooling, Orlando's top reserve off the bench last season, blasted the Magic for offering him their Bi-Annual Exception, a contract that would be worth $4.2 million for two years. Dooling, who made $3.5 million last season while averaging 8.1 points and 1.8 assists, summarily rejected the offer saying he was "insulted" by it. "I don't even know why they offered that bi-annual because I rejected it right away. I don't know if they were trying to devalue me or whatever the case may be, but that wasn't acceptable," said Dooling, Orlando's top on-ball defender last season. "It's ridiculous. That's not a suitable offer for someone who was a good player on a good team. It wasn't a market value offer and that's the bottom line."

Report Offensive CommentAnother Sprewell situation but this time with Dooling, 2.3 mil every year is still a ton of dough

Report Offensive CommentThis guy shouldn't be allowed to clean the urinals, much less play on an NBA court.

Report Offensive CommentYES, IT'S DEVALUING HIM!!!! It only takes common sense to know that if other teams are willing to offer you more, then the offer from Orlando is BELOW market value...
What Da Bloodclott!! | 07/15/08, 09:24 AM
Report Offensive CommentKeyon Dooling has value?? He should be happy that he has a job.

Report Offensive CommentWhat Da Bloodclott is right on with this. If the Magic offer is less then what he is being offered, then yes he is being devaluated.

Report Offensive CommentI don't know whether I would consider the offer and insult, but to offer Dooling LESS than he's making now, makes no sense at all. He can certainly do better.

Report Offensive CommentYou really can't be surprised by any decision Keyon Dooling makes. I mean, he did go to college at Missouri.
hehehe.

Report Offensive CommentWhy does this clown think eight points and under two assists a game is worth more than what he was offered?
stuporfly | 07/15/08, 10:04 AM
Report Offensive CommentHmm......What's funny is that I have never even heard of the guy, which 8 pts a game may cause. But what makes him think he's even worth the 4.2M? He'll never get that type of offer from anyone else. Watch out D league here he comes!

Report Offensive Comment2 million a year as a reserve? Take it or cut him..
drj0514 | 07/15/08, 10:14 AM
Report Offensive CommentWell, it looks like Keyon Dooling isn't staying in Orlando. How about the Kings or Suns as a possible suiter, who both need a backup point guard?

ahung | 07/15/08, 11:07 AM
Report Offensive CommentI havent heard of this guy??? Then you dont watch basketball or know anything about it. He is a great on the ball defender for a Eastern Conference contender. You are asking him to take LESS than he did last year. This is the NBA salaries grow as the players do. Learn a little more about SPORTS and contacts before submitting comments. I GUARANTEE more money from a team looking for a very dependable backup PG.

Report Offensive CommentHim making a comment like that was more devaluing than the offer they made him....It's not like he's an all-star.
gcick825 | 07/15/08, 11:11 AM
Report Offensive Commentwow...the magic low ball dooling with 4.2 mil for 2 years and he gets killed. dooling is a least a 4 million dollar player in todays market. it's just that simple. he can defend multiple positions run a team and he plays hard. if you thought you deserved more you guys would ALL be making the same decision
boy_wonDer | 07/15/08, 11:11 AM
Report Offensive Commentwhat does being an all-star have to do with being paid up to your worth??? damn some people are either naive, stupid. or both!!!
