The agent for Jazz guard Deron Williams said he has continued having conversations with general manager Kevin O'Connor and is still hopeful to reach agreement on a contract extension by the end of the week. "I think that's still everyone's objective," agent Bob McClaren said, "and I'm certainly not discouraged by the process at all." Williams has said he would like to finalize an extension before he leaves either Saturday or Sunday for USA Basketball training camp in Las Vegas. Williams will travel from there to Beijing for the Olympics.

I don't know if he should stay in Utah. I believe it all depends on the Carlos Boozer situation. He should wait a year before making an extension with Utah.

the Jazz wont let him wait, they will give him the money he wants in order for him to stay in Utah for as long as he wants.

Jazz = good NBA franchise
stable coach, stable front office............
they will lock up DW for as long as they can.....

if he wants to leave down the road to go to a bigger market- understandable

But hopefully these younger players realize that being in a good situation is worth leaving a few $ on the table

It's the perfect team for D-Will, and he doesn't need Carlos Boozer to succeed. If Jerry Sloan stays, then Williams will always have the offense needed to showcase his exceptional skill. Utah is a wonderful destination for any play that wants to win. Besides, he's not going to leave the guaranteed money anyway, the most he'll do is take a 3 year contract thus sending management a message that they better not slack off.

One of the best PG in the game, and he's young. Get it done, PERIOD! Good PG's are a rarity in the NBA today.

After Stockton2Malone, Deron2Carlos ain't that bad... Maybe, need 2 find more key bench players 2 be able to compete in the West, but they're good already. Go Jazz !

This should not be in question. They should have offered him the long term extension at the end of the playoffs. The Jazz are playing w/ fire. There should not be second thoughts on this one. The more they prolong this the more DWill will change his mind. If he does not sign before he leaves for the Olympics the DWill will have more option and will probably tell them to wait till next year. Bad decision for Jazz.

I don't know if he wants to stay there in Utah. ak seems a bit squirely these days. Boozer can't be trusted when he says he will or will not do something. Sloan has been coaching for alot of years and seems headed for a "break" there are alot of question marks here.

Glad to hear all the good talk on the Jazz because the Jazz finally have a star that people enjoy to watch. He gets respect from the League and not just Utah. Deron Williams has a bright future in Utah.
