Source: Posey wants 4-year deal
Posted: Wednesday July 16, 2008 05:33AM ET
James Posey, the Celtics' highest-priority unsigned veteran, is seeking a four-year contract, an NBA source said yesterday. Posey, 31, is treating negotiations as if this could be his final contract and has been in talks with Detroit, the Lakers, New Orleans, Cleveland, and Washington. No team has been willing to offer a deal beyond three years.

Report Offensive CommentWhat about the Warriors? Why is Chris Mullen sitting around instead of putting his name into the hat for the Posey prize drawing?
Posey would look good playing alongside Harrington and Jackson (or Maggette).

Report Offensive Commentyawn....just get something done. if he really wanted out of Boston he would have signed some where else by now.

Report Offensive CommentHeck, it is a longshot... but if I were the Raptors, I would be offering the four years he wants at a competitive wage. He is exactly what Toronto needs, a physical, defense-first banger who can play tough minutes and make those around him better at the defensive end of the floor.

Report Offensive CommentFull Mid-Level for three years is more than fair nobody needs this guy when he's going to 35 going on 36. Then his only value will be giving cheap shots like Robert Horry.

Report Offensive CommentWho cares what this fool wants? He's a sub-par player who got lucky to be on two good teams for his two rings. He is, by no means, worthy of a 4 year contract. The guy's a scrub.
EastCoastJessie | 07/16/08, 09:34 AM
Report Offensive CommentHe's not a scrub, he was instrumental in the Celts winning the title. That being said, I don't think the C's should go four years. Compromise, give him 3 years and let him come back to try and defend the title.
TenRingsSTL | 07/16/08, 09:51 AM
Report Offensive CommentThey offered him 2 yrs, he wants 4 yrs...why not settle for 3 yrs and get this over with? Both the parties need each other here.

Report Offensive CommentThis would be the perfect opportunity for Danny Ferry and the Cavaliers to step up. Posey plays defense, comes up with timely rebounds, and hits the open shot. More importantly, teams double teaming LeBron will be made to pay.

Report Offensive CommentCavs need more scoring since they already are a pretty good defensive team

Report Offensive CommentCeltics are stupid. Why not give the guy 4 years. He earned it and they already know what he brings to the table. Celtics and Heat are not champions if Posey was not on their team.
Posey should go to the Hornets and make the Celtics pay for delaying this deal. It seems as though the Celtics don't want him.

You are correct Mr Posey-
that being said-
I would not give you 4 years unless it was for under 4 mil per
