UT transfer gives Ole Miss hope

Two years ago Jevan Snead battled fellow freshman Colt McCoy for the starting quarterback job at Texas. McCoy won and Snead landed at Ole Miss, where he sat out last season. Snead completed 20 of 26 passes in the Ole Miss Spring game. He???ll team with former Ole Miss quarterback Kent Austin, who returns to Oxford as offensive coordinator after a successful coaching career in the CFL. If Snead is the real deal, and the people in Oxford swear he is, Ole Miss (3-9 last season) could be the most improved team in the SEC in its first year under coach Houston Nutt.

Ole Miss should contend for a bowl. I like Houston Nutt and I think he and Jevan Sneed will do all right for the Rebels.

Huston Nutt hit his cealing as a coach two year ago when he won the West with Darren McFaden and Felix Jones but could not beat Florida.

July 16, 2008  12:34 PM ET

Ole Miss better have a good running back or two because Nutt will run, run, run. It doesn't really matter though because this team has been passed by too many teams in the SEC West to ever really be considered a national championship contender.

Damn, the SEC is now even tougher with Ole Miss improving...

Yes, I'd like two Houston McNutt's with cheese...and a large OJ. To go. Thanks.

Snead is a beast but doubt he can even help this pathetic team

Hope, Keeping Ole miss fans alive since 1960.

What about a McHappyFadden kids meal?

Nutt knows how to get talent to work hard, and produce wins. Look how he exploited the talent he had last year, beating LSU! Good coach. And texter. ;-)

When McNutt was at McArkansauce, his Q.B.'s name was McDick. I believe Mc Nutt's son was an assistant coach. So I'm sure there was at least one time when they had a picture with McArkansauce's coach, Q.B., and assistant coach side by side. Two Mcnutts and a McDick. That'll be two McNutts and a McDick- Hold the McSauce.
