He'll be with the Yankees as a coach next year. Is there anyone who didn't know this already?

July 16, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Man, how's his self esteem right now. The Mets are rolling, and he couldn't get introduced last night.

July 16, 2008  08:54 AM ET

That had to hurt. At least he has the class to suck it up and sit in the Yankees box for the game.

Welcome home Willie.

Said this before... The should've just painted him yellow and made him the foul pole. At least then he'd be useful.

This is another great column by the best columnist in America by William C. Rhoden. You should read it through. Rhoden points out how Billy Wagner had a lot to say about Randolph not being a true Met and all. Nice job last night Wagner by the way. Great column and nice tribute to Willie.

By the way, Wagner will have good company tonight in talking about being a failure. He's going to have cocktails with George W. Bush.

EastCoastKeith:

Wagner is a moron - plain and simple... and I'm a die-hard Mets fan.

I see your invitation to read Rhoden's column, however, and raise you a perusal through his archives. He's written many more columns on the Mets than the Yankees, and most have been criticisms.

Agreed, he's a solid writer, but could there be a bit of pinstriped bias?

No question Randolph belonged at the ASG last night. He's as much a part of the history of the Stadium as any living Yankee.

Sadly, however, Randolph was not the right fit for the Mets. Somewhere in the 2007 season, he lost them. I wish him success somewhere else as he was a stand-up guy on the field and in the dugout.

Willie has a friend in the yankee organization.

Gets By Buckner, I took the column more of a "stupid people talking too much" than a Yankees-Mets thing. It could be because I'm not a Mets or Yankees fan (I despise the Yankees and am objective to the Mets) so I lack the fan passion about the teams when I read things about them.

Rhoden's columns in my opinion usually hit on deeper themes than the actual teams. And that was the way I took this one too. Anyway, you are more than welcome to your opinion. I will keep in mind what you are saying as I continue to read the best sports columnist in America.
