Knicks deal pushing Marbury out?

The Knicks have agreed in principle on a two-year contract to sign free-agent guard Anthony Roberson, with the deal likely to expediate the departure of Stephon Marbury, The Post has learned. Knicks president Donnie Walsh appeared to be waiting to add another backcourt player before he made a move with Marbury. The Knicks insisted there is no truth to a summer-league rumor that Marbury would be released by week's end. Marbury, who still could be traded, said yesterday he hasn't been approached. In fact, interestingly, Marbury has not yet dined with coach Mike D'Antoni, who has consulted several other veterans on whether they view Marbury as a divisive force in the locker room.

Marbury should at least get to eat dinner with Mike D'Antoni.
Heck, even condemned criminals get a "final supper" before being executed.
Besides, being Italian, D'Antoni probably enjoys eating and would pick a really nice restaurant.

Wow sounds like someone is bitter about having a drug problem in their league. kind of reminds me of tweek off southpark a little high strung. lay off the expresso dude. Marbury is a tool and needs to go he is a cancer on any team he has been on. to turn the Knicks around it will be a big step to get rid of him.

Anthony Roberson?

July 16, 2008  08:21 AM ET

Look if I was the head boss around there, he would have been gone before the end of this season that's first things first, second the Knicks already signed Duhon and now Roberson (whoever he is) and they have expressed their pleasure of getting rid of Marbury (who wants to play overseas anyway) so now would be a great time to get rid of him.

Twins Fan must have caught his wife in bed with the plumber or something...

Just keep Stephon Marbury this season and watch his $20+ million dollars come off the salary cap next season.

They're only option will be to relieve themselves of this cancer. They have to release him. There is no team that's going to take on his massive salary, his ego, his non-existent work ethic, and his whining.

Let him go to Italy!

If he's going to Italy, then all the more reason that he should meet D'Antoni for dinner before taking off.
D'Antoni can get to know him and put in a couple calls to teams in the Italian League for him. Would be a good reference. D'Antoni can also give Steph some tips about living in Italy - the best places to go eat, shop, etc.

There must be a trade coming. The first summer league game was my first look at his. He does look like a shooter. However, NATE Duhon and this kid. They are all very short.

I have concerns, but we will wait and see. Lets also be clear duhon is pass first because he's a poor shooter.
