Yankees considering Bonds?

Hideki Matsui's left knee swelled, increasing the possibility he will need season-ending surgery and perhaps giving the New York Yankees reason to contemplate signing Barry Bonds. General manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday that Matsui was running out of options to rehabilitate his knee, which has sidelined him since June 22 and kept him from playing the outfield since June 15.

The Yanks seem more interested in James Bond

Good move by the Yankees. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

It got in the way and had to be surgically removed.

Is Bonds in jail? No. That means innocent until proven guilty is still in force. It simply doesn't apply to private opinions or business hiring practices.

That would be slick. I want to see Barry back on the field.

this would be an interesting move. hate him or love him-this guy can still mash.

I can see a movie about this being made ... Anyway Barry Bonds and the Yanks? Possible but, we'll see.

July 16, 2008  08:25 AM ET

Isn't it every day that some other team is 'thinking' about Bonds?

July 16, 2008  08:38 AM ET

He'll take less than a million its the deal of the century for anybody! I think it would put the Twins over the top. However, they're cheap **** owner won't go in his own pocket for anything! Yanks need pitching! Melky Cabrera for Johan Santana doesn't look so bad now!

July 16, 2008  08:39 AM ET

Yankees dont need Bonds. They need a lefty in the pen and a right power bat in the field. Trade with Colorado for Holliday and Fuentes.

July 16, 2008  08:39 AM ET

And find a way to make the trade without giving up half of the farm.

It wasnt just Melky. It was Hughes, Kennedy and two minor league upcoming big prospects. 4-5 players for one isn't a good deal. What is Santana's record exactly? 8-7 or something like that? Good pitching doesnt matter if your big hitters cant hit.

Bonds could help any team plain and simple. The media in NY and Bonds, now that's another problem. But he could definately help.

July 16, 2008  08:47 AM ET

The Yanks have enough bats that can't field. No more.

July 16, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Bonds is a blown up has been, He has to show his stuff without the roids to prove he is worth a shyte!

July 16, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Cash also said that he hadn't considered anything and would not rule out anything or do anything until they knew exactly what the deal is with Matsui. So I guess not ruling out anything means Considering Bonds? Either way, nothing would make me happier! Do it! They talk about the yanks being the Evil Empire, what could be more evil than adding Barry and taking the WS title. Sometimes its good to be bad!

Santana stats are great its not his fault the Mets can't hit.
