McGrady interested in Pistons

At least it seems everybody can agree on this: Tracy McGrady is happy. Whether the Houston Rockets will trade him to, say, the Pistons, is another matter. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith stirred that pot Tuesday when he said McGrady wouldn't mind coming to Detroit and joining Team Dumars. Said Smith: "Is Tracy McGrady interested? Yes, he is. I spoke to Tracy McGrady earlier. His basic thing is he's very happy in Houston, but he wants to win. So whatever is a winning situation for him is something he is more than willing to entertain."

...what? how can he not care what team he plays for? he must have some sort of preference... i think the pistons need a stronger big man to rest the aging Wallace before another guard...

Toatlly false. everyone knows Stephen A. Smith has a man crush on Kobe and would not cheat on him with Mc Grady. T-mac is going no where.

Stephen A. does want to blow Kobe.

I wonder who the Rockets would get in return I don't see any players from Detroit making the Rockets better.

Let's see...

Couldn't win in Orlando so he fled to Houston. Orlando advanced beyond the first round in the payoffs this year without McFrady.

Hasn't won in Houston, or even advanced beyond the first round of the playoffs. Now he wants to flee to Detroit.

What a gutless loser, quitter and deserter this guy is!!

Since he is paid too much already, he will always be seeking for the best team that will give him a chance to get out of the first round.

Excellent observation dapper.....
- All he has to do is look in the mirror as to why his teams don't win.
HE PLAYS NO D
HE PLAYS NO TEAM BASKETBALL, when th doesn't have the ball

He has all the talent in the world-
but never learned to play team basketball.....

It appears everybody on the Rockets rather be somewhere else....McGrady in Detroit...Yao in China.....

McGrady is a poser...he may be the most overrated NBA player. he's a choker and a crybaby. How about winning a playoff series there Tracy! I would love to see him and Marbury somehow end up on a team together to see who can be the most destructive force on the floor...now that would be worth watching

Yeah, there seems to be a contradiction here.
If T-Mac is "happy", as the article emphasizes, then why would he want to leave Houston and go somewhere else?
Of course, T-Mac had to shoulder a big burden because he's the only real star on the team - especially when Yao was injured for much of the season. (Then again, Texas is the "Lone Star State", haha.)
On the other hand, T-Mac had a great time setting the record for consecutive wins and playing under Rick Adelman, who's one of the easier coaches to get along with.
So, he had to take extra responsibility but had a good time doing it. It only helps his reputation as a player.
Since there haven't been many posts on here about Houston making big trades, I wonder what they are doing to upgrade their offense. They have a team full of respectable role players who can play Adelman's system and also work hard on defense, but they do need to add more sheer talent if they want to compete in the Wild West.

Dapper Dan said it best. If the Stones were to get this cherry picking, matador-defense playing, shot hog, it would bring us closer to the the Lottery than to a ring. It would be cheaper to sign Latrelle Sprewell. I'm sure his kids are still hungry.

Before you rant on T-Mac, take a look at what I wrote.
Think about that train of consecutive wins that the Rockets - led by T-Mac - put together last season.
He basically carried the entire team offensively, night after night.
Sure, the entire team played good defense, but T-Mac had to work on both ends of the floor. If it weren't for him drawing double coverage, the Rockets would have had no chance to score.
Yes, they lost in the first round of the playoffs, but that's because the West was unusually competitive, and other teams had more depth and firepower than Houston. Even while losing, Houston did fight hard in that first round series. So, please have some respect.

McGrady has won the same number of playoff series that I have. He's always hurt, and always seems to be whining. I cannot imagine the Pistons trading much for him.

I guess detroit would have to send rip hamilton packing , if they made this trade

July 17, 2008  09:43 AM ET

Why would Detroit do this? The Pistons just need to keep the situation as is and stop looking for ways to blow the whole thing up.
