Spartans snag Detroit recruit

Michigan State picked up another commitment from a Detroit area prospect, Bennie Fowler of Detroit Country Day. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Fowler is one of the fastest prospects in the Midwest for the class of 2009. Fowler selected the Spartans over Indiana. Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan were also recruiting him. The Spartans will look to Fowler as a deep threat option with the departure of Devin Thomas.

Michigan State is on their way up, good for the Big 10.

On a more critical note - Michigan State recruiting a guy from Detroit shouldn't be surprising?

1. This happened 4 days ago and 2. I think fannation posted this only because it's a break from Michigan

Really? I'm confused here, this must be Fan Nations own version of "ground hog day". This isn't new news anyway, State has pulled it's share of players from Detroit for a few years now. But I guess it's a good sign for Moo U. It has been a train wreck up there for a few years now.

I forgot to add that MSU aka Lil Bro has a pretty good crop of young whipper snappers coming in. Hopefully they can help the legacy of choking that MSU has been known for.

Look, I know right now is a slow time for College FB news, but why paste the same thing every couple days. Just leave it be.

Good for State.

I know that MSU has been going to detroit before to get recruits, but the big news is that now it is being advertised. I think Dantonio is doing a great job of rebuilding MSU back to a power house.

Is this the year MSU finishes as strong as they start?

July 17, 2008  04:17 PM ET

this guy isn't even that good, just check him out on youtube, the majority of his yards come from some kind of boise state hook and ladder play twenty yards down field, you can see the play being run atleast three times in the highlight film, its like the defense is clueless and it makes you wonder what type of competition he's going up against because i'm sure other teams would coach their defense to watch out for that play and besides this guy wasn't getting offered a scholarship from michigan or notre dame, just getting looked at to see what he could do and just happened to get lucky with an offer from msu

State is State, maybe they will, maybe they won't. You never know which State will show up on any given Saturday. And who is "Fat Charlie", is it that bloke that resides at the Gold Dome?

July 17, 2008  09:53 PM ET

Good for Dantonio. Maybe he'll live up to all the hype he's been talkin about now.

It is a good thing Mr. Over-rated Mike Hart is gone and ready to start his new job at White Castle because little brother has grown up and is ready to put a beat down on his is sister in Ann Arbor (who happens to be a wh0re). Michigan State is on the rise and Michigan is in the tank and getting ready for 2009 because 08 is a complete wash. 3 and 9 baby.
