The agent for Memphis' Javaris Crittenton said on Monday that the Magic have been in trade talks with the Grizzlies about the second-year point guard. NBA teams aren't allowed to comment on the availability of players affiliated with other teams. However, Magic GM Otis Smith said the Magic still could be in the market for help at point guard. "We're looking at a thousand things right now," he said. "We'll keep looking around and see what makes sense."

lets see......
a ton of mediocre point guards-
oh yeah- I'm sure teams are lining up to purge your spectacular roster......

Wow, today must a real slow sports day.

July 17, 2008  08:42 AM ET

Wait a minute...How are the Grizzlies going to go w/ their 5 PG lineup if they deal Crittenton!!!!! this will ruin their whole strategy for NBA domination. Trade one of those non PG guys and maybe get Marbury and Cassell to have 12 PG on the team

July 17, 2008  08:59 AM ET

The Magic are the dumbest organization in the league right now. Every one in this state seems to know what they need except them. YOU NEED A POWER FORWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop signing these 1 and 2 guards. You have enough shooters, you need a rebounder and defender to help Dwight. Howcum they didn't go after Camby? Dwight and Camby in the front court would have been awesome. Get rid of GM Otis Smith.

July 17, 2008  09:03 AM ET

Hey Noles,

They cant afford Cmaby's salary. Crittendon is a better passer and defender, and at 6'5", can defend bigger PG's better than smurf Jameer Nelson. And with Battie coming back to play PF, they just might be better. Maybe not, but Battie will definitely help on the defensive side.

July 17, 2008  09:04 AM ET

Keith Bogans and Brian Cook for Javaris Crittenton and Greg Buckner sounds good.

July 17, 2008  09:06 AM ET

Noles, do your homework. Howard is a center, and the Magic don't need Camby. A rugged rebounder at the PF spot, maybe...

Camby can play the 4 position. What do you mean the Magic don't need Camby. They need him more than they need Crittendon.

July 17, 2008  09:18 AM ET

Get this deal done. We need another PG, Johnson & Jammer won't be enough.
And we don't need another big man, word is Foyle will be back, giving us Gortat, Howard, & Foyle at center, Rashard, Cook, & Battie at PF.
And once again it doesn't matter if we "need" Camby, we can't afford him!

July 17, 2008  09:19 AM ET

The Magic can afford Camby's salary. They won't have Keyon Dooling or Maurice Evans' salary on the books this year.

July 17, 2008  09:20 AM ET

Hmmm....let me see Marcus Camby or Adonal Foyle and Marcin Gortat? No brainer.

July 17, 2008  09:23 AM ET

Camby makes $10 mill this year. With the signing of Pietrus and Johnson taking up most of the $ that would have gone to Dooling and Evans last year, there's no way we could afford that. Especially when Otis doesn't want to go over the cap.

Evans and Dooling combined made just over $6 mill last year. Pietrus will make $5.5 mill at least this year alone. Therefore there isn't any money left over for Camby. Besides, he's already been traded, so it doesn't matter. End of story.

See the problem was signing players like Pietrus and Johnson. They bring nothing to the team that we didn't already have. They say Pietrus is a lock down defender, so was Keyon Dooling and to a lesser extent Keith Bogans. Dwight has no help on the boards and that's how we get beat on second chance baskets.

I got you on that, I agree, but trust me, Pietrus is better at D than Bogans.
Johnson, IF we can pull off this trade, will just be there to help guard the likes of Chauncey and other PGs like that once in awhile, since he wont play much otherwise.
