Rosenbloom: Rams not for sale

Rams owner Chip Rosenbloom confirmed Monday evening that the team has hired a Baltimore firm that specializes in sports investments. But not, Rosenbloom insisted, for the reason that was reported earlier in the day. Rosenbloom said Moag & Co. is not seeking prospective buyers of the team, as the weekly SportsBusiness Journal reported, citing unidentified sources. Rosenbloom explained that Moag was employed to field the many inquiries that had been swamping him and Rams president John Shaw.

Yeah! Like "are you selling" and "how much do you want". Of course there gonna deny that their selling. If they didn't, how many of those 73 Rans fans would actually show up for their games?

what is the asking price $73.59 and two new tires?

I don't trust this guy at all. It's obvious that they are interested in selling......it's just a pathetic smokescreen

BoBo - your comment about 73 Rams fans is way off the mark. Attendance lagged in 2007 to be sure, but this team sold out all it's home games for the first 11 years they were in St Louis. Most of those teams ranged from horrible to mediocre, except for the 3-4 years of the Greatest Show on Turf. I mean freaking Tony Banks was the QB for three years, and they sold out every home game.

LA bound for sure. (TenRings, look forward to a properly STL franchise.)

July 17, 2008  11:26 AM ET

Of course we are not for sale until someone calls me up with a big enough number. Speaking of numbers, you have Mark Cubans? I hear that guy has plenty of dough to unload.

July 17, 2008  11:30 AM ET

Your right TenRingsSTL. Maybe I undershot that number by a couple hundred or so. I'm kidding, relax...... They did have some miserable teams in the past (other than their two glory seasons) and it's amazing people paid good money for those. But then why do you think they would hire this Moag? And what kind of "inquiries" are they fielding? And if attendance is so good, why move? Don't get me wrong, I'd rather see the Rams stay where they are. I don't think it's right to expect a city to be loyal, but tall teams have only one goal, to make more money. And if LA offers a sweet deal, their gone!

July 17, 2008  12:33 PM ET

Ahhhh, I miss the glory days. If we had better management and coaching, I'd feel better to say those days arent that far away. How many times have their been "experts" saying the Rams were contenders? Always lookin' good on paper, but never transferred to the field. One of these days, we'll hit our stride again, and they'll remember how nice it is in STL (the fans will show up again of course).

The Rams put solid teams out there for most of their years in L.A. before dropping off the map in the '90s. Whether you want to blame Frontiere, Shaw or John Robinson for the drop off - it had very little to do with the cities of L.A. or Anaheim not supporting them. This team has moved twice before, St. Louis shouldn't be shocked if they do it again one day.

If Frontiere's kids decide to sell - more power to them. I hope they stay in St. Louis but as I grew up in L.A. and became a fan of them there it really doesn't matter to me where they play.

July 17, 2008  01:01 PM ET

I think I should get the dough together and buy the team and move them to Billings Montana, or Dutch Harbor Alaska, or better yet Roswell New Mexico we cna be the Aliens.

July 17, 2008  01:35 PM ET

Like my good friend "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase used to say, "Everybody's got a price!" If the right offer comes along, the team will be sold and moved... promises and contracts and lease provisions be damned.

July 17, 2008  01:50 PM ET

BoBo - sorry, I get a little defensive when people start on the mindset of St Louis not supporting football. St.Louis has already been "blessed" with the worst owner in the history of pro sports, Bill Bidwill, and how they have dealt with a poorly-run Rams franchise, but the fan base is solid, and again, I saw them give tremendous support to some horrible teams since 1995.

To your other point, I think you're right, I have no doubt that Chip is looking to sell, but I doubt he cares if the teams stays or goes. My concern is that he will not look to sell to St Louis interests that are wanting to keep the team in St Louis.

as long as the rams have jackson and an uninjured o line theyll work

July 17, 2008  03:07 PM ET

I bet we hear Mark Cubans name in all of this eventually!!!

July 17, 2008  03:56 PM ET

Ah, the perfect team to move to whet the appetites of the marketing types by moving to Toronto! Just don't bring them back here to LA. We've got better things to do with our money and our Sundays than support this franchise.

July 17, 2008  03:56 PM ET

Sorry for the error-the perfect team to whet the appetites of the marketing types by moving to Toronto.

July 17, 2008  06:49 PM ET

I agree.
