Brown: Favre should stay retired

Former Oakland Raiders great Tim Brown says Brett Favre should stay retired and that there's "absolutely, positively" no way the star quarterback will return to the Green Bay Packers. "There's no way he's going to be back in that locker room now," Brown said this week. "Absolutely, positively no way. They're just trying to say the right thing, hoping that he comes to his senses." Brown, who retired in 2005 after 16 seasons with the Raiders and one with Tampa Bay and has been an NFL commentator on FSN, said all Favre can do at this point by coming back is damage his legacy.

Brown is like on FSN? Well so is alot of other tarded half-witted sports commentators. The brother could run, so can alot of others, him just a little faster - so he got a job in the NFL and did okay. But he aint got no room to be talking about the w-man Farve. so he should like shut up his bir white-teeth smile, you dig.

What if wins the Super Bowl for whoever he plays for? Would that be damaging his legacy? Would a loss in the SB be damaging to his legacy? Would making it the NFC Championship be damaging to his legacy? If he throws for 3500 yards 28TD's and loses in the playoffs because his defense can't stop whomever, would that be damaging to his legacy? All cases, the answer in "No". What the he11 are you talking about Brown? Just because you damaged your legacy, doesn't mean that everyone else is like you!

F Tim Brown

July 18, 2008  07:56 AM ET

Why did they ask Mr. Brown...who cares what he thinks.

July 18, 2008  08:02 AM ET

First of all the three comments in the middle sound iliterate.
Second point is you say that they can go to the super bowl because they went to the playoff last year, well Brett did not play well in the playoffs and most important did not play well in the cold. But with some luck they could be a wild card team and hope to only play warm weather teams or teams in a dome

They should "ax" Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin "them" opinion also, they are as eloquent as a a door knob and "they" vocabulary as extensive as a Parrot.

The actual comments are illiterate? I've never met a comment that couldn't read or write!

The packers are thinking about the future... They can't keep going back and forth with Rodgers... If they really think he's the man of the future in Green Bay, then they need to play him because his contract is expiring after next year and he WILL sign somewhere else if he feels like he's disrespected... Then where will all you so called Packers fans be?? Up ishes creek without a paddle...

Farve is a one year fix... You gotta look towards the future... Sure it hurts, but like you say to all the other players, you make millions so get over it....

July 18, 2008  08:15 AM ET

Shrug @ Tim Brown. The majority of people think Favre is burning bridges and screwing up. A more interesting story would have been someone backing Favre up. But that's going to be difficult to find anyone..

July 18, 2008  08:18 AM ET

What FN needs to do is keep the string of Favre threads alive. Everyone, put in an effort & let's keep this streak alive. GO FAVRE THREADS!

You is the bandwagoner!! | 07/18/08, 08:05 AM

How can you be illiterate if you can speil the word?

July 18, 2008  08:35 AM ET

Tim Brown was done long before he decided to go play in Tampa, his experience means absolutely nothing. Farve had an incredible season last year, not a career worst like Timmy's last year in Cokeland.

July 18, 2008  08:35 AM ET

The problem, CowboyDave, is that the story hasn't changed. Don't you feel like Bill Murray in "Groundhog's Day"? They keep re-running the same crap until you want to kill yourself.

Sure, you want the focus to stay on Green Bay for the benefit of less media hoarding over Romo and Owens, but can't we talk about something else for a few days?

Maybe Cedric Benson will drive drunk through a Farmer's Market, injuring a duck and making an 80-year-old woman pee herself. Maybe Marvin Harrison will pop off a few caps in the air with his jungle snake. Maybe Mike Vick will host roach fights in Leavenworth.

Just something else, please.

July 18, 2008  08:38 AM ET

Favre is done. He is an old man who simply got lucky last year. Tim Brown is right.

There is no way in heck the Packers will let him play for them. He is too arrogant and thickheaded to understand that there is no future for the packers with him. He is done.

At least with Rogers they have a chance to have something for more than a season. Favre might have a good season...but then it will be "Boohoo, I dont know if I want to retire! Boohoo! I just want everyone to stop pressuring me! Boohoo! I retire!"

Six months later

"Boohoo! I am not retired"

**** Brett...you dumb old **** broken qb. The only thing you ARE good for is holding a clip board....though I am sure someone will intercept that too...you inaccurate ****

We can talk about anything you want. Stay on topic? Screw FN!!
Training camp is right around the corner, let's talk some football!!!

July 18, 2008  08:41 AM ET

RP-29,

Are you a GB fan? There's much to talk about with that young team. Favre needs to buy more land in MS so he has more grass to grow.

July 18, 2008  08:44 AM ET

**** is Tim Brown. I thought they meant Jim Brown.
