Why Lue picked Bucks over Celtics

Tyronn Lue was very interested in playing for the Celtics but said they offered a little less than half than what Milwaukee did. "I'm disappointed, man," Lue said about the Celtics. "We were hoping to get it done for so long." Another veteran backup point guard the Celtics also have interest in is their own free agent Eddie House.

Shmeezel-shmozel... playing in a city that doesn't matter....

July 18, 2008  08:20 AM ET

Like many, Lue took money

Ironically he wld get more PT in Boston since Bucks have Mo Williams, Ramon Sessions ands Charlie Bell.....They can all play PG

July 18, 2008  08:52 AM ET

He obviously doesn't want to be a champ.
He's a little Benjamin

Mr. Sonic... He never got that big contract that would have set him for life... So ask yourself what you would have done if you're thinking about your future after basketball and your family?? Gotta go with the money before you can't get it anymore... Winning is nice (when you have the money), but you gotta go with the mula!!!

July 18, 2008  09:23 AM ET

He did it for the cash. No need for me to even read his reason for it.

July 18, 2008  09:30 AM ET

Yawn @ money over championships..smh

July 18, 2008  09:44 AM ET

Then he shouldn't complain when he is sitting home during the playoffs for his entire Milwaukee career. Obviously the money is more important to him than winning.

July 18, 2008  09:58 AM ET

ya i dont understand the bucks for the money

i mean money is one thing but ur a ball player..wouldn't u take alittle less juss to play!!!(or win a tittle but thats a crapshoot) he woulda played for the celtics...since our backup is gabe pruitt right now

but the bucks have

mo williams
ramon session
charlie bell

he wont even play

LOL

Might as well be called Tyron Lue-ser from now on. Just kidding...really don't give a ****. C's will resign House and Rondo will be better than ever next year. Plus that kid Pruitt can contribute. The Celts will be in the hunt again next season.

July 18, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Double the money..good enough reason for me..

July 18, 2008  11:37 AM ET

Why Lue picked Bucks over Celtics--what a stupid question. Does Ainge really think that a player would want to play in Boston bad enough to accept half his worth?

July 18, 2008  11:38 AM ET

Maybe you've all forgotten ... he got his rings while riding the pine in LA. Time to cash in and set yourself up for retirement. Smart move, Ty!

July 18, 2008  11:55 AM ET

Forget Lue - But what exactly is the Celtics strategy here?? They haven't replaced anyone that they've lost thus far. I heard on a sports show that Garnett was already grumbling about not bringing back Posey; hardly a way to start a new season.
I personally think Ainge went over his head and has messed this thing up (AGAIN!!!)

July 18, 2008  12:24 PM ET

You don't give 30+ players four year contracts....thats GM 101. And It's not like Lue was such a great option either. I think Gary Coleman might have him beat by a few inches

The Celtics won it, woopty doo, but it's a new season now and they're really dropping the ball. They let Posey go, they don't get Maggette, Brown retires, Tony Allen is gone, Cassell will probably leave, Lue is gone, and if they don't resign Eddie House they will have lost the 4 most important reserves they have. I know LAST YEAR Ainge was executive of the year, but he's really getting back to his old habits for this year it seems.
