Robin Benzing, a 6-foot-10 forward from Germany who signed with Michigan this spring, will not enroll at the university, the Wolverines' program announced Friday. Benzing failed to reach initial eligibility requirements set forth by the NCAA. Michigan knew there would be issues regarding Benzing's academic credentials and status. He played last year with a German team that included professionals.

and what relevance does that have to anything?

Col Hogan; I know nothing!

Woodaf23,

It's about as relevant as you are, which isn't saying much.

Actually it's more relevant than you. This kid would have been a sorely needed player who would have brought a lot of experience to the team. There was doubt that this move would fly due to his ties to a pro team (which is common in Europe) but it still hurts the team. He would have added much needed depth and experience. More pain to endure if you are Mich BBall fan.

Its time for David Stern to make a REAL minor league for the NBA!! Not that NBDL crap full of players who'll never make it but a real one just like MLB's!!! These kids do not want a degree or free education they want to play BASKETBALL!!! Lets end this college charade and develop talent for the league!!! David Stern its time, the college game sux, and you cant even really gauge the talent in college because 97% of all college basketball players SUCK!!! Cmon NBA its time and dont be afraid to hurt the NCAA feelings youve made them enough money already!!!!
