The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame induction banquet, set for Saturday night at Lambeau Field, will honor two former players and a longtime club employee. But the spotlight will be trained on one of the guests in the house: Brett Favre. Team officials said they had no reason to think Favre would not show up for his old friend. Favre's wife, Deanna, is expected to attend as well. avre, enmeshed in a nasty spat with the franchise over his desire to come back and play football, is scheduled to be the presenter for former center Frank Winters, one of the inductees. Favre is a close friend of Winters' and, long before the Favre soap opera became national news, agreed to appear at the banquet in support. Team officials said they had no reason to think Favre would not show up for his old friend. Favre's wife, Deanna, is expected to attend as well.

"This guy just loves to play football" "This guy is a football player" thats all you hear from Madden and those goofs at ESPN, well you know what Brett looks HOLLYWOOD to me and he loves those cameras and attention and being in the spotlight what a BOOB!!!!

I can't beleive I'm saying this, but Brett , Just go away man.
I've had so much respect for him all these years, but in the past few weeks, almost all of it has evaporated. Sorry, but you just need to go away.
The game is much bigger than you (and your ego).

July 19, 2008  11:22 AM ET

Well that does it, If HE is gonna be there, I'm not going!

July 19, 2008  11:29 AM ET

He should just forget about football, and go to Hollywood. He has serious acting chops. I mean, did you SEE him in "There's Something About Mary"? That was a truly Oscar-worthy performance.

You guys are lost making these comments it's quite simple.
None of you played football for 16 years in the greatest league on this earth and decide to retire. Brett has done that....
Like many atheletes before him , he has the passion to play still...
Yes he retired.. but now he wants to play....
Green Bay was going on about their business without him so what's the problem?
Let him go .... don't keep a legend as a back up QB to disrupt a young QB , Arron deserves more respect than that...
Let him Go.... it will be a sideshow all season.
Brett can start on most of the teams in this League at age 38..
Packer fans are showing their true colors in these posts...
Let than man go .. Leave him alone, cut him loose and don"t complain if he comes back to whoop your ****.

"Does anyone really care?"

nope. =)

July 19, 2008  11:49 AM ET

dude got a man cruch on Brett? I believe the best would fall to Manning or Brady. Brett has defied the odds and is still a top 5 qb but not the best as evident by his performance against the Giants.

July 19, 2008  11:50 AM ET

This is really getting old. I still don't understand all that is going on and guess we will never really know.It is really a sad time for BRETT, his family and the PACKERS. What a shame. Jerry
