More to Romo's playoff curse?

Dallas quarterback Tony Romo needs to prove he can win when it really counts. Two years ago, he botched the field-goal hold in Seattle and the Cowboys bit the dust. And last season, he couldn't get it done against the Giants. That's consecutive one-and-done playoff performances. And a trend that goes back even further. Gil Lebreton of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram notes that in the last three years Romo was the starter at Eastern Illinois, his team lost each of its three first-round games in the Division I-AA playoffs. "Superman had his kryptonite," Lebreton wrote. "Tony Romo has the playoffs."

Yeah just like all the experts said Peyton could not win the big game. patience is needed. who else are they going to go to?

July 19, 2008  11:42 AM ET

he will win one. it's olny been two years

July 19, 2008  11:42 AM ET

Not really a curse.......Just circumstance's out of his control.......

July 19, 2008  11:50 AM ET

no doubt. give the guy a chance. there are some players & coaches that have HoF careers and never win the big one.

July 19, 2008  11:51 AM ET

Dan Marino, not that Romo is in that category, but saying.......

July 19, 2008  12:01 PM ET

Just read an article that it takes at least 3 years to really get comfortable with the NFL and things really start happening in the 4th year. As it was noted he has only 2 years so far and two different coaching staffs - mostly likely to be 3 next season. It takes time.

Let the Cowboy hating begin.............

July 19, 2008  12:32 PM ET

Romo and the Cowboys will probably win a Super Bowl eventually, but most quarterbacks have to pay their dues. But the longer it takes, and the more times you get beat in the playoffs, the more that gets in your head.

July 19, 2008  12:41 PM ET

I am not a big Cowboy fan, but the deal with the botched field goal should be classified under "fecal matter occurs" -- people need to forget it!! Romo is a good QB and ultimately will drive his coaches crazy and drive other team defenses crazier. He has the perfect assets for run-and-gun and will ultimately take that team to the SB. Play your game Romo and don't change a thing....

July 19, 2008  12:41 PM ET

Sometimes the media give Tony Romo too much credit..I feel that he's is overrated and needs time to perfect his game..He can't bring it in the big games and that what makes a good quarterback..Its not about Jessica being at the games as a distraction..He has a job to do and it's time for him to step up to the plate and get it done..He seems like a nice guy in a goofy way and one day he would do well...

July 19, 2008  12:45 PM ET

Romo will overcome this with age. In the meantime, the Cowboys must maintain the high quality of the rest of the team, particularly the defense.

July 19, 2008  01:09 PM ET

I know he's still young, but if Romo and Phillips go one and done AGAIN, they are both in huge ****

July 19, 2008  01:10 PM ET

While I agree the media gives Romo a little too much credit, he has been good. Numbers and wins don't lie, liars figure.

He made some mistakes during the playoffs but it's only been two seasons. The team has locked down some really good players on the O and D and he'll get his playoff win(s) soon .

July 19, 2008  01:13 PM ET

Hey Lil giants fan your opinion don't matter cinderella just got lucky last year you guys will never win it again. As far as Romo is concern It's called growing pains eventually he will snap out of it and finally win when it matters most I hope if not he should hit the road with Wade.

July 19, 2008  01:17 PM ET

Giants D was in the zone last year so Romo didn't stand a chance at pulling out a win....but he's still a dynamic mobile QB. Let's see what happens this year..
