Two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes visited the Lions this week, a Lions official confirmed to the Free Press. Spikes is a free agent after he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles in March. The Lions could use another linebacker. The Lions lost Boss Bailey and Teddy Lehman this off-season. They drafted rookie Jordon Dizon in the second round to join Paris Lenon and Ernie Sims. Other linebackers on the roster include: Tyrone Pruitt, Alex Lewis, Anthony Cannon, Gilbert Gardner, Alfred Fincher, Caleb Campbell and Buster Davis.

ever notice how when Takeo leaves a team it gets better (bengals, bills)? I say buy Philly stock, sell short detroit.

July 20, 2008  09:45 AM ET

yeah good point about the teams he leaves, guess he is the opposite of the rally monkey in baseball. being a Cowboys fan I say keep him in Philly.

July 20, 2008  10:02 AM ET

bet Matt Millen bites on him and signs him.

July 20, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Lions could use him...........

July 20, 2008  10:51 AM ET

If Matt Millen signs him, then he won't be worth a ****.

July 20, 2008  11:12 AM ET

Detroit can use all the help they can get. I say sign him and see what happens, can't be any worse than Paris Lenon!

Tell it like it is | 07/20/08, 10:51 AM

Isn't that the reason why Matt Millen would sign him in the first place??

July 20, 2008  11:41 AM ET

i think they need a qb first??

July 20, 2008  11:55 AM ET

he's past his prime. shame, he was great to watch his first 5-6 years in the nfl.

July 20, 2008  02:47 PM ET

I just cannot see Spikes going to the Tigers. He's a football player. Does Detroit have a football team?

July 20, 2008  04:04 PM ET

The only way a player chooses to play for the Lions, is if it also counts towards their community service!

July 20, 2008  04:06 PM ET

Ah-oh. If they land Spikes, there goes the Bears hopes down the toilet again.

This guy talks a big game but doesn't deliver when needed.
Any wonder why he's never been in the playoffs in his career?
I'm glad the Eagles released him.

July 20, 2008  08:52 PM ET

ouch Mr. Miyagi.......but soo true. I swear Millen hits a crack pipe before making personell decisions. No one can be that dumb naturally.

July 20, 2008  09:44 PM ET
