Lee wants to stay with Knicks

Knick forward David Lee, a name in every trade rumor that involves The Franchise Isiah Ravaged, acknowledged he doesn't know his future in New York. But Lee already sees positive change in the Knicks under new coach Mike D'Antoni and GM Donnie Walsh. After three seasons, the Knicks, burdened with more bad salaries than the MTA, know they'll have to come up with a lucrative deal to retain Lee. Lee said D'Antoni recently told him, at lunch in Las Vegas, that he wants to keep the former Florida star. And Lee doesn't want to leave the Big Apple.

A a Knicks fan-
I'd love to have him stay.....
He really was one of only a few knicks that showed any heart.

That being said.....
he's also really our only desirable commodity.
If a deal that will truly HELP US comes along-
we'd have to let him go.

July 20, 2008  09:37 AM ET

he is a good player but i think he will be only a bench player

July 20, 2008  09:38 AM ET

guess he wants to play for D'Antoni. if you get more by trading him that is best as the Knicks still need lots of help turning that thing around.

July 20, 2008  10:02 AM ET

He is capable of 15 amd 10 if given enough shots

July 20, 2008  10:46 AM ET

Keep Lee!

July 20, 2008  10:59 AM ET

He cant stay on the court!!!! Get something for him while you can!!!!

another stupid Heat Fan comment...
he will be a starter later in his career, and a double double starter.

he already has averaged a double double in 06-07 he put up 11 ppg and 10.7 rpg in 27 mpg. he'll only get better...

July 20, 2008  12:25 PM ET

LEE SHOULD STAY HE IS ONE OF THE COUPLE HEARTED PLAYERS THE KNICKS HAVE AND IS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER NO WONDER WHY A LOT OF TEAMS WANT HIM. YOU CAN'T KEEP TRADING
YOUNG UPCOMING PLAYERS FOR EXPIRING CONTRAT ALL THE TIME .SEE NOW MARCUS CAMBY IS THE 06-07 DEFENSIF PLAYER OF THE LEAGUE IMAGINE IF WE STILL HAD HIM. LET THE FARM GROW

July 20, 2008  01:18 PM ET

You'd think he'd want to play in a big market and become a household name...

July 20, 2008  02:57 PM ET

He still needs to develop some offensive skills before he becomes a really good player...

July 20, 2008  03:09 PM ET

"He still needs to develop some offensive skills before he becomes a really good player."

Yeah- but that's not his game-
he'll nevver be a 'post presence'
He's an athletic forward with a nose for the ball.

At best he turns into a shawn Marion type-
(which would be FANTASTIC)

these are the type of players you WIN with

July 20, 2008  03:17 PM ET

he is the only consistent non punk trashy guy they have. He should be the foundation of the team, he is a solid 2 option, maybe 3

July 20, 2008  05:37 PM ET

Sorry David; you're the only person on this roster than we know what to expect from, your contract isn't over-inflated, and you don't cause enough trouble. We can't have that. To further insult you, you're being traded for a 6 pack of sweat socks and a bottle of Gatorade .

July 20, 2008  06:22 PM ET

Haha let him go to another team and prove his skill by averaging 15 and 10!

July 20, 2008  08:05 PM ET

Him staying in NY is good for NY, but not for him. Going to someone like Charlotte, Denver, Indiana, or Milwaukee. I know it sounds dumb, but would you rather play alongside Mo Williams, Michael Redd, Richard Jefferson, and Andrew Bogut or Jamaal Crawford, Danillo Gallinari, Zach Randolph, or Eddy Curry? That's an easy question.

July 21, 2008  02:13 AM ET

He's a good role player, but he plays hard. Something the Knicks need

July 21, 2008  02:14 AM ET

Not that easy actually.
I think Danillo Gallinari makes the Knicks more attractive, he provides instant scoring and passing teamwork to the team.

There are still better teams for Lee though...

"To further insult you, you're being traded for a 6 pack of sweat socks and a bottle of Gatorade ."

Hey Hllywood- this isn't Isiah's team anymore.......
we'd get at least TWO bottles of gatorade back.......maybe even powerade

Don't worry Lee, the Knicks will find a way to trade you for some crap players like Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph. It's only an amount of time.
