Ravens face tougher training camp

This year's training camp marks the start of a new era for the Ravens, one defined by change. Change at head coach, change at quarterback, change on the offensive line and a change in attitude about preparing for the season. Brian Billick's camp - aka "Club Billick" - was light on hitting and allowed players more freedom than anywhere else in the NFL. Coach John Harbaugh is expected to bring a more old-school approach, which will require players to buckle up the chin strap on the field and stay together off it. The days of players going home after practice and sleeping in their own beds are gone. Like many teams in the NFL, the Ravens will remain at the team hotel and receive bed checks each night. The players will stick around the hotel more and also the practice field. In an attempt to save his players for the season, Billick would rarely go extended periods without giving days off. On Harbaugh's schedule, the Ravens practice 13 straight days once the full team reports Wednesday. Their first day off is Aug.8, the day after the preseason opener at New England.

...and despite all this, they will still have an awful season.

this is funny, some guys will complain about it being tough. I put the over and under at 6 days into camp. and they will still have a bad year.

Looking forward to 2 victories this year...this team has more holes than swiss cheese.

Tough? Good! Toough is good. It is supposed to be difficult. If a team is to play like one they need to endure hardship together and also the rewards together. I don't know where they all get so "entitled"--suck it up players.

If by holes you mean QB.... that is the only major hole. We upgraded on CB, Trevor Pryce is back and healthy(who had 12 sacks the year before he was injured). Todd Heap is back, with fresh, young stud Linebackers with some who can play DE as did Adalius Thomas. So if Flacco or Smith can play decent and keep our defense out of trouble, then the only other problem is our offensive tackles.

Bout Time....maybe it will produce something

I really hope they gett their **** together and produce this year

2 victories ?! Please, spoken by a true homer. Take off the Black & Gold glasses junior and tell us about all the holes because other than QB and 2 young tackles the rest of the team looks just fine, thank you...

Who farted?

July 21, 2008  12:23 PM ET

LOL@Yoda..I hope not...I wonder who will get the starting QB this season?

July 21, 2008  12:56 PM ET

For what they get paid and last years record, most of them should be happy just to still be in the NFL. I hope Harbaugh works their butts off. The rookie QB will need all the time he can get before "GAME TIME" starts. Hopefully they will cut all the little shrimps likeT. Smith, Ivy and sign another OB, DB.

The season can't get here fast enough, GO BROWNS!

July 21, 2008  01:56 PM ET

And I am going to it!

July 21, 2008  04:59 PM ET

Maybe this is the reason Ray Lewis camps out in the middle waiting for tackles to come to him....he's not in good enough shape to run around the field.

This was an interesting thread, not even a page 2

July 21, 2008  05:30 PM ET

Eddy Reed. As a Steeler fan I agree too early to rip apart other divisional teams before the season starts. What is a homer?

July 21, 2008  05:35 PM ET

I assume a "homer", judging by the way people use it in these threads is: a person whom is obsessed with their team and perpetually sees the glass only half full?

July 21, 2008  05:47 PM ET

No matter what it's still Ray Rays team.

Ravens.... 6-10 this season....Any argument?
