I'm sorry, but I don't think Mendenhall would've been a first-round pick if Zook had not come to Illinois. I think he needs to show restraint when this subject comes up because it seems detrimental to his image. Just my opinion.

Seriously does Mendenhall think he would ahve liked it better if Zook wasn't there? Zook is your coach not your buddy, Buddy.

How can he have credibility when he won't state what his problem is?

PS Forever.. because some people would rather not air dirty laundry for the press.. I wish more people were like that.. Now he could've just said "no comment" altogether.. that would've been the best answer.

Rashard, you owe a lot of your success to Ron Zook. He saved Illinois football. Your brother isn't talented enough to be a D1 RB. Get over it. Focus on your career and quit bad mouthing your college. Rashard will be one of those guys on MNF that will say his high school instead of his college.

Rashard needs to shut up. If you're not mad, and it's no big deal, why keep bringing it up. I agree with the post above that says this is going to hurt Zook's recruiting. I don't know what the specifics are that Mendenhall is talking about, but if Zook hadn't come to Illinois, he probably would have been 3-8 in his last year, and not even close to being a first round pick.

Agree with D. SLIQ on this. Yeah, he's defending his brother but he needs to back off a little in respect to the man that had a big hand in making him a millionaire.

This is a stupid **** article written by stupid a ss Terry Bannon of the Trib. Most of the "bitterness" apparently stems from Zook's decision not to renew Walter Mendenhall's scholarship: Rashard was/is standing up for his brother who probably isn't as good as he is. But if you look at the article with its headlines both (Tribune and T&R) being misleading - Rashard says nothing about "bitterness" or being "upset." He's not mouthing off at all. Rather he says that he has no hard feelings and understands that that was how it was to be. He's not happy, but that's far from being "upset." (Zook is trying to improve the team and that's understandable, but if he made a committment to play Walter, he should have honored it.) BTW, the one who comes out best in this is the mom Sybil, who seems like a great person. In any case, this article is typical of a sports writer hack job, trying to stir up stuff where there really isn't stuff to be stirred up. You suck, Bannon.

Guys getting drunk crashing cars almost killing their teammates in basketball, Now the creep Ron Zook is finally getting exposed!!! Zook has a TON more class than the jackass he replaced at Florida. I'll admit that I'm not "in the loop" when it comes to the internal dealings of the Illinois football program, but from the outside, it looks like Zook is doing a pretty good job. Could someone fill me in on the "other" complaints against him? Just curious...

Truth is that Walter wasn't going to get much playing time, if at all, which is why he transferred. Rashard needs to keep his trap shut and accept the fact his younger brother isn't that good, after this year no one will talk about Walter.

What Rashard is doing is obscene and racist in nature. He makes unspecified allegations against the coach and then refuse to discuss it, leaving the coach to deal with it and the media to speculate that there may be more to the problem.

I'm an Illini fan, and I'd also like to know what the "other" complaints are about him. You sure don't hear much of that kind of stuff in Illinois

MRMiyagi, not sure why you are saying what he is doing is obscene or racist? I'm sure the media asks him the question and he answers it without answering it. If he goes into anymore detail then that would just add fuel to the fire.
