Shockey's future uncertain

Giants GM Jerry Reese believes that after a somewhat rocky offseason, the Giants will be a happy and determined group in time for their opener on Sept. 4. But will that group include the unhappy Jeremy Shockey? That apparently remains to be seen, even as the start of training camp looms in just three days. Reese would not say if he expects his enigmatic tight end to report to camp at the University at Albany with the rest of his teammates on Thursday morning. And he appeared to leave open the possibility that Shockey won't be part of the Giants at all. The Giants listened to trade offers for Shockey during the spring but ultimately decided they weren't good enough.

Listen its simple for Jeremy. Report to camp on time and with a big ole smile on his face or prepare to not get paid. Its not rocket scientry. Its simple capitalism you work you get paid if you don't you don't get squat. In today's NFL not only don't you get squat they take money from you. I don't really know what his problem is. So they won without him big deal. They have tried to see what your value was big deal. He was just given a contract extension 2 years ago so money isn't the issue. For all his posturing he is acting like a child. So go ahead Jeremy sit out. Watch other TE's do your job as well as you do then sit at home getting no money while the Giants do what they have every right to do which is keep you sitting home not getting paid. Show up and be a man.

He's not that good and not a team player. Just another selfish brother. Plain and simple. He just is not worth the risk for a lame injured boy.

solution.....a piece of duct tape across his mouth. problem solved.

Bring Shockey back for another year.

July 21, 2008  07:31 AM ET

Just do your damn job that you are getting paid very well to do. Who's happy with their salary and wouldn't want to make more? Of course if normal people acted like this, we'd be standing in the unemployment line. I would not want this guy on the Steelers and thankfully, they would never take him.

Not a bad idea, but he went to the U. He'd figure out how to remove that duct tape within a week or so! Then where are you? I say trade 'em, problem solved.

July 21, 2008  07:39 AM ET

The G-men need Jeremy. He will suck it up and play after he gets over the theatrics.

July 21, 2008  07:52 AM ET

Shockey has always been a head case. When he played at the U he was a head case. When he played with the G-Men he was a head case. I use that in past tense so hopefully in return my wish for him not to be on the team anymore will be granted. Who needs Shockey? It just adds more pressure on Eli Manning to deliver him the ball, which was the problem in the first place... wasn't it?

Dont blame Jeremy if there is pressure on Eli. He can get it done, give him the ball.

yeah then really confuse him and put two pieces overlapping. that should take at least a month to figure out.

like they needed him for their run through the playoffs and a superbowl title. not sure what else there is to shoot for. i guess when you reach the top of the mountain all he will be good for is helping them come down from it.

July 21, 2008  08:19 AM ET

His future in gayporn is very certain...you go boy...

July 21, 2008  08:35 AM ET

I agree Kevin Boss seems to be Shockey without all the attitude and baggage, but I still say give Shockey 1more year

July 21, 2008  09:02 AM ET

Hmm not sure what to think of Shockey he seems selfish, but all the other players on the giants team really want him to stay. Not sure what to think at this point

July 21, 2008  09:18 AM ET

i agree with scrappy. all of the other players--maybe not eli--want shockey to stay. personally, as an eagles man, i want to see him in another division. he's got talent and can make the game easier for his teammates.

that said, he's a head case at times and the Gmen OBVIOUSLY don't need him to win the Super Bowl again, so why not trade his loud mouth and get some draft picks instead?

July 21, 2008  09:28 AM ET

I wish teh Saints would just get this deal done.... Saints will reap the benefits and be an offence to fear

July 21, 2008  09:30 AM ET

LET'S DO THE MATH...GIANTS+TIKI+SHOCKEY= LOSERS
GIANTS-TIKI-SHOCKEY= SUPER BOWL CHAMPS

WHY EXACTLY DO WE NEED BROKEDOWN CRYBABY BACK?

SINCERELY,

ELI

Rock On

Sometimes when guys get hurt they sit on the sidelines and help the team by motivating them or giving advice to the players. Others sulk. Shockey sulked. I doubt that team would miss him much if he moved on.
