Commitment No. 13 from the Class of 2009 is in for Notre Dame football, according to Irish Eyes: Indianapolis offensive tackle Zach Martin has submitted his pledge to the Irish. Martin, a 6-foot-5, 270-pounder who plays for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, reportedly made the call to Irish coach Charlie Weis on Sunday. Rivals.com ranks Martin the top prospect in the state of Indiana, and also puts Martin at No. 4 in its "best athlete" rankings for the offensive line position. Martin is the third offensive lineman to commit to the Irish, but the first projected as a tackle at the collegiate level.

Another great pick up for the Irish but Charlie Weis is fat!

what a shame

6'5" and 270 and he plays the "O" line?
A bit small these days, no?

And yes, Charlie Weiss is a big fat tub...

Have no frear, with Charlie working closely with this young man I have every confidence he will get fat.

6'5" and 270 is small. Thats why he is in the best athlete category for linemen. Hes not a big fat tubba. To think he will be this size always wouldn't make any sense.

July 21, 2008  10:05 AM ET

Weis looks like he knows how to fatten them up!

July 21, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Good pickup. The Irish are getting a lot of linemen lately.

Say what you want about Casper Gutman, but he can recruit. Martin's speed is good and his benches and squats are respectable and he'll probably get these up. Presumably he can also think on his feet. Also, the highest rated player in Indiana. So the Brat Boy is taking care of business in-state.

"Brat Boy..." I like that GWW!

July 21, 2008  10:48 AM ET

Don't forget: it's pronounced "Brot"!

July 21, 2008  11:39 AM ET

He maybe "small" but he will have time to eat some brat's with Uncle Chuck!!

When he becomes a starter, he'll be close to 320!!

When 270 is considered small for a high school senior, you know America has a bit of an obesity problem. Also demonstrated in the picture in the top right.

Go empty calories!

Also, this guy was highly recruited by Michigan, so the UM fans on here are forgetting that two weeks ago, everyone thought he would be in Ann Arbor. Would he have been too small then?

As a UM fan, I couldn't care less. There are fullbacks coming up that are his size, that is, until Charlie Wide gets to him

In that picture, is Weiss waving a menu?
I can just hear him..."Put that vat of SPAM over there by my desk!"

Some of you have a lot of class. It must make you feel really good about yourself to sit behind your computer and make fun of another human because of his weight. Very classy.

they better improve the line, to have a chance to compete with the trojans.
ray maulug will obliterate the ND Qb this year..............
