Damon 'pretty upset' about DL

Johnny Damon admitted he was disappointed and "pretty upset" he couldn't talk his way off the disabled list and into the Yankees' lineup Sunday. Damon took batting practice again and resumed a light throwing program with about 20 short-range tosses to strengthen his strained left shoulder, but GM Brian Cashman wants to remain cautious with his leadoff man. The Yankees still are considering sending Damon on a brief rehab assignment this week before activating him.

LOL... "A light throwing program..." That's funny. It litterally hurts my eyes when I see his throw. It's as awkward as teenager trying to make his first move in the backseat of his mom's Plymouth Voyager.

Truth is - and I hate the Yankees - the Yanks need him back quickly. So, go to the minors for a long time, Johnny.

We could always bring him back to be one of our 800 DH's!

July 21, 2008  09:17 AM ET

would rather him stay on the DL for a little while longer then lose him completely. especially now that its after the all star break.. he needs to be healthy for the run coming up, they are playing and winning with out him OK right now..

I love how Truth/Rumors leaves out that Damon said he understood why he was not in the lineup and he was ultimately fine with the decision.

Awful quiet in Red Sox Nation this morning ... I think Ellsbury killed the thread in the bottom of the ninth last night.

I think the Nation was just about to officially authorize National First Place Day, when WHOOSH!

They got swept right off their feet. Like they've fallen, and can't get up.

Patience is a virtue Johnny. Make no mistake about it, the yankees KNOW they need you. And this is not a negative thing that you are upset and want to play, GOOD! Stay mad, and come back on fire my man...see you in the yankee line up soon.

July 21, 2008  11:53 AM ET

Stay on the DL, Johnny. We need you healthy for the crunch. Only 4.5 games out now. Get healed completely and then come back.

I just hope Johnny's CANNON of an arm comes back to full health. Can't wait to see him throwing guys out at home plate again.
