If the Bulls want to sign Luol Deng to a contract extension, they have weeks, not months, to do so. Though the official deadline to reach an extension isn't until Oct. 31, Deng's camp has made clear to the Bulls that negotiations won't continue past the forward's early-August commitment to Britain's national team.

Since he went to Duke, it doesn't really matter what he says or does he is probably lying. That little Devil.

July 22, 2008  07:14 AM ET

they should keep him and trade gordon away deng is a better player

July 22, 2008  07:48 AM ET

The Bulls will be fools to lose both Deng and Gordon with nothing in return

July 22, 2008  07:51 AM ET

They would then be an expansion team.........

July 22, 2008  08:54 AM ET

Sign and trade.....

July 22, 2008  09:16 AM ET

jgb correct

deng (sign and trade) to the clippers for t.thomas and a.thornton

July 22, 2008  09:21 AM ET

get what you can for this guy. the team underacheived. They are trying to right that ship and this is something they do not need.

July 22, 2008  09:57 AM ET

winkstrap....why would the clippers do that??

July 22, 2008  10:02 AM ET

Paxson should be fired. Not only did he make the wrong choice with the 1st pick in the draft, but he also made NO free-agent moves & is stuck at a standoff with Deng & Gordon. Well played on the players part: who stands to lose more? Deng & Gordon continue playing in the league, but if Pax can only muster one-year tenders before losing them both to free agency, he is as good as gone in Chicago and rightfully so.

July 22, 2008  10:33 AM ET

odom for deng + somebody else

July 22, 2008  10:38 AM ET

they should trade noah and hinrich and keep deng and gordon.deng is still young and has a bright future ahead of him.they must also get rid of hughes and gooden.they must trade them for some younger players.

July 22, 2008  10:43 AM ET

they need to rid themselves of both gordon. he's to steaky not a good enough defender and undersized.

July 22, 2008  10:48 AM ET

odom for deng + and what else?
oh yeah and a few million $ under the table (gasol style) to the bulls
wait no one is gonna do anything to help the laker cheaters out again (tightwad owner at memphis is a disgrace)
the lakers should of been investigated

July 22, 2008  10:49 AM ET

They'll sign Deng. Probably Gordon for this year, then he's gone. Gordon is not a 50m$ guy, but someone will overpay for him. I would also say the BUlls didn't underachieve last year - they're not that talented. they overachieved the year before (under Skiles).

July 22, 2008  10:50 AM ET

The Bulls need to clean house.

July 22, 2008  10:50 AM ET

I dont understand why so many of the restricted free agents have not resigned with there teams yet?
Do Deng, Gordan, Smith, Igdugala, honestly believe they will get more elsewhere?
All 4 players are major contributors on their respective teams, which means they have their most value (financially) with those teams, not elsewhere!

Im a big fan fan of both Deng and Gordan (being from the uk) but their stats show that $50mill over 5 years was very generous!
And they cant use the excuse that they wanted to see where the team was going, because last summer the future looked very bright in chicago!

it proves that their must be MAJOR unrest in the dressing room amoungst owners, coaches and players!
