Red Sox may let Manny walk

Manny Ramirez's on-again, off-again relationship with Boston management seems like it's off again. Speculation in Boston is if Matt Holliday becomes available the Red Sox might let Ramirez walk and take a run at Holliday. Ramirez, 36, is represented by Scott Boras, who thinks Manny can play until he's 40, and will likely seek a four-year contract for his client, should Boston not bring him back.

THis could go on forever. Please by the good grace of God almighty, do not let the team of Hank and Hal be interested. I would rather have a pile of dirty laundry in left field.

This saga will make the A-Rod opt out saga seem quiet and uneventful.

July 22, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Sox will let Manny walk. Theo has been waiting since for the day his contract expires.

July 22, 2008  08:14 AM ET

Manny is MLB"s versin of Dennis Rodman.

The nutty behavior of buffoons like this is only tolerable when there is a strong team leader around to keep them in check (Jordan did that with Rodman). There's no 'Jordan' in the Sox locker room to reel this moron in. That being the case the Sox would be well advised to dump this selfish jack*$$ at the end of this season.

Holliday's statics are inflated by playing at Coors field.

July 22, 2008  08:35 AM ET

Although tempting for a couple of reasons , the idea is nauseating for several more. I hope the Yanks don't even give this headcase a first look and spend their money wisely.

Your tongue looks inflated.

July 22, 2008  08:36 AM ET

Sure, but it's got nothing to do with Coors Field.

July 22, 2008  08:39 AM ET

Time to trade him...

SlinkyRedfoot | 07/22/08, 08:36 AM

Might have something to do with Coors, anyway. Hey, nice little streak the tribe is putting together ... they're only 14 out of first, which is where I believe the Yanks were right about this time last year ... GO TRIBE!!!!

July 22, 2008  08:44 AM ET

Like most of Sox Nation, Epstein has waited a looooooooooooong time to rid the team of this ****. There is no doubt Holliday will be the next Sox LF and compared to Manny we'll be saving $$$. Go suck 20 mill from the Yanks or Mets Manny.

July 22, 2008  08:44 AM ET

Thanks, Atro. Sure enough, they've taken seven of their last eight. They're only 11 out. I wouldn't place any bets, but they're playing well and they should be getting Martinez and Hafner (who knows if he will help) back soon -- you never know. I'm happy they are tied for the basement as opposed to owning the basement.

They could be just as inflated by the Green Monster. Boston is a good fit for Holliday; but, they don't have room unless they allow Manny to walk.

Is that right, only 11? Musta counted on three too many toes last night. Well, if last night's pooching of the Royals is any indication, they should have the basement to themselves in no time flat.

You'll save $6.5M. Total.

In baseball terms, that's a Yugo with a sunroof.

I can vouche for Slinky's taster...that was achieved through hard work, dedication, and a food allergy.

CardsFan2 | 07/22/08, 08:46 AM

That's reasonable. I guess I'm just afraid of seeing Manny in a Yankees uniform -- should that happen, I might just have to stab my left testicle with the blunt end of a chop-stick.
