Amid all the offseason controversy involving Chad Johnson -- his request to be traded that escalated into a demand -- Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis never got a call from his star receiver until recently. Now Johnson is overloading Lewis' cell phone with text messages, a positive sign the two are growing closer. Like an ol' married couple, the player and coach have patched things up in time for the Bengals' Sunday, July 27, arrival at training camp.

Chad is like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, but with a much worse doo and a lot more money.

July 23, 2008  08:12 AM ET

Chad is more like Dr Jacka** and Mr. Me.

can't wait for the cincy fans to show him their own brand of "forgiveness"

Bengals, Johnson and Lewis sounds like an advertising firm.

this guy is an idiot - and should be viewed as an embarassment to the NFL... I would never allow my kid to 'look up to' Chad Johnson... he is everything I would NOT want my child to be ...

what scares me is how many future NFL'ers are going to try and copy Johnson's attitude and antics...

the NFL should put a stop to his kind of behaviour now....

July 23, 2008  08:29 AM ET

I believe that Chad Johnson is either bipolar or reality set in...He knows that no one wants to pay him that kind of money and deal with his attitude..Its a shame that your antics override your talent...

July 23, 2008  08:31 AM ET

What kind of behavior are you talking about exactly? Compared to some other guys, he has been a lot less disruptive. At least he's trying to resolve the situation and is actually going to show up on time for the start of camp.

July 23, 2008  08:39 AM ET

TD celebrations - planned celebrations... always talking about himself... going about the antics he has with trying to get traded...

basically his behaviour that promotes himself and wanting the spotlight on him - and only him vs. having a team first attitude...

the great ones don't have to tell everyone they are great, people would already know...

Where are they registered? Candlesticks always make a nice gift. :-)

This guy is so regular season. Lead the team somewhere and then talk to me about being a superstar. Just a good regular season player who seeks publicity at any cost.

July 23, 2008  09:55 AM ET

isn't that nice. i could cry.

Tough call in the offseason for the Bungles too not trade him and call his bluff but, with their defense I would have jumped on a 1st round pick from the 'Skins. When they understand how much of a longshot a playoff run is with this prison farm team they will deal him.

Hey Fonsi...Marvin harrison, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Roy Williams?
Harrison: Shot a guy this offseason
Boldin: Threatening to hold out

July 23, 2008  11:44 AM ET

Fonsi.... Stop crying... Don't be mad at the man for having a personality... You want him to be a robot? What do you care how he acts? Just watch the game and shut up..
