Heat forced to play small ball?
One rival executive said the available centers are so bad that the Heat is better off with an undersized front line of Udonis Haslem, Shawn Marion and Michael Beasley, supplemented by Alonzo Mourning (by January) and small doses of Mark Blount. ''Is it conventional? No,'' coach Erik Spoelstra said. But ''teams have gone in the direction of playing smaller.'' The Heat is open to using Dorell Wright in a sign-and-trade.

if the heat can get okafor without jeprodizing thier ability to resign wade when he becomes a free agent they should do it.

Good call on Okafor Rusty
or I think the heat could be really successful at least during the regular season with that small frontcourt lineup of Haslem, Marion, and Beasley. Then with wade in the backcourt with a quick player like chalmers?

they dont need marion or ricky davis, they need to pick up anything to put in at the 5 that can atleast play D and some boards. cmon blount? and wasnt alonzo's injury career ending last year? now hes going to be coming back to play as the only decent center on that team? okayyyyy. i love zoe but they need another big body.

Horrible idea guys.............if I were you, I'd attempt to trade Udonis Haslem, Stephane Lasme, Marcus Banks, and Joel Anthony to Charlotte for Raymond Felton and Nazr Mohammed. Sign and trade Dorrell Wright to Indiana for Shawne Williams.
C - Nazr Mohammed, Mark Blount
PF - Michael Beasley, James Jones
SF - Shawn Marion, Shawne Williams
SG - Dwayne Wade, Daequan Cook
PG - Raymond Felton, Mario Chalmers

It will be tough to get a center. Okafor is the only one out there. They should have gone for Camby to make up the inside presence. The Heat were good during their championship because they had 2 big bodies that defended the paint. Shaq and Alonzo were the perfect combo, starting and backup.

At least those guys are good rebounders so they shouldn't get killed on the boards. Worst case scenario is the bigger 4's and 5's getting easy shots over Haslem and Beasley but they'll just have to deal with that.

Well, there aren't that many dominant centers in the East, so they may be able to get away with it for a while, until they sign a big man during the season.
However, a lot of the risk simply depends on Beasley's attitude. As jayrpanlilio mentioned in the first post, if Beasley reacts as Webber did, when asked to fill in at center for a year, then it could end up disastrous. Hopefully, Beasley can follow the example of Amare Stoudemire and Tim Duncan - natural power forwards who have filled in at center when needed.

Still Earl Barron should be resigned isnt he 7 ft & he has improved.
The only way my Heat should sign & trade Dorell Wright is if we keep Ricky Davis , lets not 4get every time we trade a up & coming talent 2 another team they blossom.
Examples: Carron Butler, Rasual Butler & of course Kapono should have never even been thinking of toronto if Riley had just offered him more money.

Blount can post up.
Have you seen him play? He can post up, rebound, block, and shoot the three.
He's an ok player, but the reason the heat are hesitant about him is because he's a softy...
