Is agent misleading Liriano?

Francisco Liriano's agent has put undue pressure on the left-handed pitcher by alleging the Twins are keeping him in the minors to delay his major league service time, which would affect eligibility for salary arbitration and free agency. The agent's charges are clearly hollow.

Agents are always full of crap..........they are only after the all mighty dollar. Liriano will be back in service before you know it.

I would have to agree, bad move on his agent's part. However, as a White Sox fan I hope he stays in Triple-A for a while longer, say 2010?...

HUM lets see, the twins are in the middle of an AL Cent. battle, they are doing fine with the pitchers they have now, they don't have room for him in the starting rotation. last time they had him up in the majors he really sucked. i don't think that the twins are willing to take that chance yet.

I would really like to see the Twins take that chance. LiVan is not going to do the job through the stretch. Send him to the pen and bring on Liriano. His stats in the minors show that he is ready and what better place for him to be than in the Majors.

July 23, 2008  09:40 AM ET

he has an era of 0.32, 4-0. the twins could at least use him as a spot stater or in the bullpen. he has value at the major league level

July 23, 2008  10:06 AM ET

Yanks will take him, I mean he is only a prospect, right?

July 23, 2008  10:50 AM ET

That's a joke, right? "Only a prospect?"

July 23, 2008  10:58 AM ET

If he could help them win, I would think the Twins would have him up there. Just seems last time we was called up, he **** all over himself.

Yes.
More sarcasm. Get his but up in the majors and let the clock start on him.

I think that he can help them win. I think that the Twins management is stupid.

Seriously man, why would you purposely keep someone down at Triple A that could help you win?

I have no answer for that. Gardie said the other day that the starters that he has now are doing very well. By very well I suppose that it means that they are not losing by a great margin. Until they came up against the Yanks that is. Liriano has been doing great down in the minors and there is no one the Twins right now that deserves to be in the majors more than he does. Maybe ifin they lose a few more games and fall back into fourth place in the division (where I thought they would be by now) he will be brought up.

Liriano wil be a pitching superstar...

I cannot think of any reason that the Twins haven't called this guy up yet, other than they're on the hook for Hernandez's salary and the other guys have been doing okay. Get him up there, sit Livan down, and make a push for the White Sox.
