Sundin: Leafs not out of picture

Though Toronto's offer "isn't even close" to the $20 million that the Vancouver Canucks have on the table, Mats Sundin has not ruled out returning to the Maple Leafs. Of course, the 37-year-old also hasn't ruled out retiring. Or signing on with Montreal for that matter. Sundin remains at least a week away from announcing his future hockey plans. "The Maple Leafs are not out of the picture if I decide to play," the Leafs' captain emeritus told Swedish paper Aftonbladet in yesterday's editions. "They made me a very good offer, even if it isn't even close to what the Canucks have offered. But I have been in Toronto for 13 seasons and it is like home to me. Nothing is out of the picture. I got a very good offer from them as well as Montreal. But Vancouver's contract was in a class by itself if you look at only the money."

Why?
Is there anything else happening that we should know about Spiny?

July 23, 2008  08:54 AM ET

I would like to add my two penn'orth here, but (a) I am speechless at this continued disregard by T&R of our clearly expressed boredom with this subject; and (b) I have a pact with OtherOne not to comment on any more of these threads. Hopefully this doesn't count :)

Baun-ded!!!!!!

July 23, 2008  08:57 AM ET

On second thought...this story hasn't changed since the season ended...so I would have to agree that it certainly is not "News".
This could be interesting though...The Canucks want to sign him to at least 2 years. The Leafs one year.
Mats can't decided from one year to the next if he will play again...
Vancouver is offering silly money...
Toronto is no longer enamoured with number 13.
Mats is dumb.

The Heat should send marion for Sundin

Heat Starting Lineup

PG: Jason Williams

Well of course it counts Oilersguy...and if it was with BGM you made that deal, you would now find avatar shrouded in a stupid Big B jersey. Fortunately for you...Otherone isn't that clever...

July 23, 2008  09:03 AM ET

...and just to clarify that last comment...I am not implying BGM is clever either...sadistic yes, clever no.

Anything else but another Favre/Sundin story!!!!
How about a bit about the swelling ...(no no that swelling) Dump Bettman Movement that is here on their very own T&R

July 23, 2008  09:18 AM ET

And the Leafs would still want him after all the drama he's caused? Maybe Matts is assuming too much!

July 23, 2008  09:23 AM ET

Awe...why not...its been a while.
I recently heard through the grape vine that BGM was so lonely as a boy that his parents had to tie a pork chop around his neck just so that the family dog would play with him. That's when he started wearing his Big B sweaters...His nickname was "bonehead" you see...and that's what they told him the B stood for back then and he was so happy with the recognition that I guess it just stuck from there on.

Now I thought Oilers4ever and I were bad enough with the puns yesterday. I can do the vaudeville stuff too! (oilers; for you that's the American version of Music hall)
Are saying his bath toy as a kid was a toaster?
