Inter striker Adriano is being linked with a sensational return to Fiorentina in today's edition of the Italian newspaper La Nazione. Fiorentina is set to make an offer to bring Adriano back to the Stadio Franchi. The Viola are looking likely to lose Adrian Mutu to Roma, after receiving a bid for him yesterday, and will look to replace the Romanian with a big name center forward.

Fiorentina would be a great place for Adriano to reinvent himself. This would be a good move for him IMO.

Makes sense. Fiorentina will problem off-load Mutu even if Mutu has declared that he wants to stay and I can see Fiorentina taking in Adriano who needs a place to get himself back together.

What happened to Adriano going to Chelsea, that was a few months ago... forgot its all rumors

This is hardly the first time this rumor has popped up. I'm not sure it's that likely, Still, Fiorentina could easily play a 4-3-1-2, with Mutu playing behind Gilardino and Adriano. Got that would be a dangerous attack.

Fiorentina has essentially said it will sell Mutu only if Mutu wants to leave. He's supposed to answer that question by tomorrow morning.

Brasilians have some of the longest name...
Edson Arantes do Nacimiento
Romario de Souza Farias
Adriano Dame el Ano Pietro

whats up with that

Adriano lacks skills to be a force in the Serie A?
Now thats funny because he revelled while at Parma and Inter.
It is then that he earned his nickname of "The Emperor"...

I only see La Viola going for Adriano if Mutu leaves though. And I think he will.
La Viola making a move is likely. I
nter sending Adriano over to a stronger Fiorentina is less likely...

I don't see Mutu leaving though. It would be sad if he left Fiorentina. He owes his career to them after that cocaine suspension

July 23, 2008  08:24 PM ET

Hope he can get his act together. He's a heck of a talent when all the wheels are rolling. He's a got a sweet left foot and a bull on the pitch.

July 23, 2008  08:43 PM ET

When this guy isnt out partying and getting drunk he's a ridiculous talent. He has strengh, speed, size, skill and cannon of a left foot. If Fiorentina sign him watch out for the them in the champions league!!!!!!!!

July 23, 2008  09:34 PM ET

Look to replace the Romanian? Isnt he from Brazil?

July 24, 2008  09:03 AM ET

does it matter?? Mutu is class...

July 24, 2008  09:30 AM ET

MUTU IS FROM ROMANIA ....They are looking to REPLACED Mutu the ROMANIAN with Adriano which is BRAZILIAN ...GET IT????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

a team which is looking to get into the champions league group stages should not go for such a washed up striker. Adriano is done. he used to be one of my favorite players.
