Report: Favre called Vikings' Childress

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, continuing its reporting on a tampering charge leveled by Green Bay against Minnesota, said yesterday that quarterback Brett Favre has continued to use a cell phone issued by the Packers. When the team checked the phone records, the paper said, the records showed "repeated calls to [Vikings] coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell." The Packers filed a tampering charge with the NFL last week. Though Favre's talking to Bevell, his former quarterbacks coach in Green Bay, may not show much, the paper said discussions with Minnesota's head coach may raise red flags.

I bet they forgot to confiscate it when they shipped his locker to him. Nothing like having to pay the phone bill too! Right? lol

How stupid can you be to use a Packer's paid phone to call anyone other than the Packers. I have a hard time believing Brett could be that stupid. Show me the phone records......

July 23, 2008  08:05 AM ET

Is it still considered tampering if the player being 'tampered with' is the one initiating the calls?

July 23, 2008  08:15 AM ET

If he did indeed use a GBP phone to call the Vikes, he ain't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. With Minnesota already trading draft picks away, their cupboard with be kinda sparse once the league takes away a draft pick (or draft picks) for tampering.

this is gettin old quick. just trade him, because theyr trying to throw away the NFL's all time most decorated QB, and thats a shame.

July 23, 2008  08:21 AM ET

I did not know if I should laugh or cry when I read that Favre said at the banquet last week that he did not want to say anything because it was " all about the team."....He just forgot to tell the reporters what team he was talking about....
Glad to hear they have cell phone service in Hattiesburg Miss. I would have lost that bet......

July 23, 2008  08:25 AM ET

This is some straight bs..Why the hell would you use a cell phone that the Packers gave you? Umm Brett, you have millions. Use your own cellphone..This is some laughable s***..I didnt know he was that damn slow..lol

July 23, 2008  08:25 AM ET

St. Brett is so smart, who wouldn't want him on their team?

July 23, 2008  08:33 AM ET

Must have left his brains in his helmet.

July 23, 2008  08:41 AM ET

yaawn!

July 23, 2008  08:50 AM ET

So now, if favre gets traded to minny for some picks, there are likely going to be some bonus picks on the end of the charges. as well as the disruption that favre will create and the confidence hit that TJ will take. So why not trade him to minny its a 3-way win for GB!!

Brat Favre shopping himself around? What a surprise!

July 23, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Shopping himself like a dirty, little, ....that he is.

Favre should come walk up and down 42nd street selling he-self. Pathetic, just Pathetic. Ruined his legacy for good.

July 23, 2008  10:08 AM ET

what a moron

July 23, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Give it a break Brett, go fishing or something...

July 23, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Favre's apparent desire to go to the Vikings - the team most likely finish first in the NFC North division - reveals more about his own self-interest and willingness to throw years of association with the Packers and the adulation of Packer fans under the bus. Brett, you are certainly a role model for ego and being self-centered.
