Grant threatening camp holdout
For the first time this off-season, the Packers and the agent for running back Ryan Grant have had substantive talks about a long-term contract. Nevertheless, Grant is holding firm that he won't report to training camp if an agreement isn't reached. Grant's agent, Alan Herman, said Wednesday that the two sides finally got down to business last Friday and have spoken almost every day since in an attempt to hammer out a contract. Herman didn't think the sides were all that far apart, but there were some fundamental differences keeping the deal from getting done.

Wow! This guy has had less than half a season's worth of productive games...IN HIS CAREER, and he's already doing the "gimme more money dance". It's a sign of the times though. Whattuhya gonna do?

They could trade Favre to the Bucs for E. Graham or C. Williams and and force the dude to sit his **** on the bench until he plays out his current contract or shows more than 6 or 8 games of worthiness.

You've got to be kidding. If I'm Green Bay, I fine his a** every day he doesn't show and then not regotiate. Long term deal?? How about you earn it. Look at me, I had one pretty good year, gimme gimme gimme.

well can greenbay renegoiate his deal if he blows next year. do it again next year and we'll talk should be their response. package him and Brett and ship their butts to the raiders or houston or maimi. that will show them. I remember when players would pull this crap and get shipped to the worst team in the league. maybe they need to do that again.

I think the best option is to re-structure his contract to 1 Million Base Pay for this year alone and 1 Million incentive if he reaches a 1,000.00. Make sure the Contract ends after one season. That way, if he is the Stud he thinks he is and I think he is, then get more money after this season.

You have to think of it on both sides. The Packers won't pay him big money if they don't really know. He fumbled 3 times against the Seahawks......
The Flipside is The Packers will try to run him to death while paying him the league minimum. Is that really fair? No, so give him a little pay raise with performance incentives and there you go.

America's Legend.. exactly right.. you can't expect an every down NFL RB to play for 370K, especially coming off a good year. That would be foolish on his part.

These football players are so ridiculous. I think there needs to be a new rule passed that states if a player holds out (while under contract), the team is NOT required to pay them, and they wont take a spot on their roster, but also still belong to the team. I think that would deter this crap from happening 20 times a year. You sign a contract, you play it out.

Only 370K? My heart is bleeding for him. You signed a contract, you play it out. If he sucks this year and your'e paying 1 million, what do you do then. Will he give them a refund? What if he turns into a fumble king? One PRETTY GOOD year, that's all this guy has on his resume.

He out performed every RB on that roster and elevated QB Brett Favres play. He was able to dominate the ground and allow the Packers to play Clock Control and that helps thier Defense. Aaron Rodgers has made over 6 Million sitting on the Bench for 3 seasons..............He will be instrumental to this offense, Don't think for one second this guy couldn't find a home with another team just like that.

Some people don't understand the business side. You think that is a lot of money.......it is to us, but it is HORRIBLE to them.
Think of it as you are working at a Huge Law firm and you have a Good/Great Law School Degree and the Janitor is making more than you are......You have to make everything happen and always smile, but he is just cleaning the stalls.
This guy is good. Don't go giving him a 7yr-40 Million Dollar contract.....give him some money mainly incentives and then if he shows up even better this season, pay him the money,
