Word as of Wednesday afternoon was that the Yankees were looking everywhere for a catcher. Worried that Jose Molina might not be built to hold up the rest of the way as an everyday starter, they have checked in on a number of possibilities, including Texas' Gerald Laird, Washington's Paul Lo Duca, Kansas City's Miguel Olivo and Toronto's Rod Barajas.

Recently, quite a few celebrities and pro athletes were said to appear on the millionaire luxury club "R I C H L O V I N G.C O M" to hook up with hot girls, ladies, models... OMG!!! Are these famous guys fond of internet dating for now?? Maybe they are indeed so rich that they feel boring sometimes to need new things? It was reported on MSN Charlie Sheen has found his girl there last May.

So you're saying they shouldn't consider bringing up their stud from AAA and having Posada, Girardi, and Molina groom him for the stretch run? Interesting, interesting ...

July 24, 2008  08:33 AM ET

Sendyleng does indeed have remarkable insight.
As a Nats fan, I really hope the Yanks take Paul Lo Duca off our hands.

The angle of this photo makes Loduca look like he's 3 feet tall.

July 24, 2008  08:34 AM ET

I can call him Loduca instead of Lo Duca.

Me and him? We're cool like that.

As a DC area resident and Nats observer, I suggest trading Lo Duca for a fistful of glycerin pills and just getting it over with.

Lo Duche = No thanks!!! Next rediculous rumour....

July 24, 2008  09:28 AM ET

How about the catcher from the Twins... Joe Mauer ???

July 24, 2008  10:04 AM ET

perhaps Girardi should just slap the pads back on. He appears to be in playing shape....

Joe Mauer is a MN boy he doesn't want to play anywhere else..

I think that Molina will be fine, he just needs to build up to catching all the time. and you know moulder isn't that bad and he catches Rasner good and a few other pitchers... they both just needs some time to start hitting, and in april/may molina was leading the league in doubles. he can do it.

that would make more sense then getting some one else that is too old to last to much longer.

July 24, 2008  10:07 AM ET

Stick w/Molina - he's no worse then LoDuca, Oliva and Barajas.

Indeed. That's why I value Sendyleg's opinion so much. Always gets right to the heart of the matter.

July 24, 2008  10:15 AM ET

Molina is pretty good. His hitting is poor but he has come up with some big hits, at least earlier in the season.

His biggest problem is that you need to have another player run for him. He is slower than a sloth on narcotics

July 24, 2008  10:23 AM ET

Fortunately alot of his hits are doubles.

July 24, 2008  10:40 AM ET

Molina calls a great game and has a cannon for an arm - who cares if he can't run or hit? He'll make up for it w/his D.

I say keep all the young guys and just dump salary and Igawa on the M's for Washburn.

July 24, 2008  11:06 AM ET

If I couldn't get a guy like Mauer then I'd stay put with the Molina. Not for nothing but isn't he the prototypical catcher of the the 80's. He has SOLID defensive skills. He's got a cannon for an arm. Didn't he throw out something like 13 of the last 15 attempted thieves trying to steal 2nd base and something like 12 in a row???

I'll take a solid defensive catcher who can hit better then his weight. With this in mind Molina is only .013 off his target batting avg. He's hitting .222 and he weighs .235

And since when are catchers supposed to be blistering fast? Last time I checked there wasn't a time trial for catchers to run the bases.

July 24, 2008  11:19 AM ET

Oh..don't get me wrong...I'll glady take the D over the O for a catcher. I was merely stating the truth. He has to hit a double to get a single.

July 24, 2008  01:13 PM ET

The Yanks can have Laird or Salty for catcher, but we want Hughes in return. Cough him up.

July 24, 2008  01:56 PM ET

Me DUM DUM - Cool. I also agree with you on the fact that he is the best player in MLB for stretching a double into a single. He is awesome at it. There's no one better.

July 24, 2008  01:59 PM ET

I'd be interested in Miguel Olivo and Gerald Laird, doubt we get Laird I would like to see if Texas sells Saltalamacchia.
