Mets checking out relievers

The Mets don't have the Yankees' need for a lefty reliever, but many of the names coming up from their end are left-handers. They checked in on Seattle's Arthur Rhodes, but the sense Wednesday was that he was bound for the Marlins. They have continued to keep tabs on Pittsburgh's in-demand Damaso Marte, and the scout they had at Monday night's Rangers-White Sox game was there (at least in part) to look at Rangers reliever Eddie Guardado.

I wish these teams would deal these lefty relievers already. Enough speculation. More action.

Or you could you just exchange "METS" for "EVERY CONTENDING TEAM" on the subject line

man, that pic looks a little like Jesse Orosco.

Arthur Rhodes is still in the league?

everyday eddie gets by on mediocre stuff and a whole lot of heart. and that was 10 yrs ago. as a twins fan i love the guy, consumate team player. if he has anything in the tank i'd say he could help a contender.

I never hear what exactly the Mets have to trade for anybody they seem to want. The Rangers would give them Guardado, but we want Carlos Beltran in return. Cough him up.

Marte is the way to go if your looking for a reliever.

I seriouslt hope you don't think the Mets would ever trade Beltran for him. Maybe Nick Evans (an MLB-ready OF), but thats about it. I could also see then giving up some of the relieves in the farm too. But theres no way they would give up a guy like Beltran for a reliever.

Agreed. Go after Marte. Street and Fuentes will cost far too much, especially Street. Billy Beane almost always gets the better end of the deal.
