Three members of the University of Miami football team's top-rated recruiting class will be heading to Milford Prep in New York state this fall instead of Coral Gables, according to published reports. Offensive lineman Brandon Washington, linebacker Antonio Harper and safety C.J. Odoms would not have academically qualified in time for the start of the fall semester. Coach Randy Shannon told reporters last week that ''about six'' of the team's 33 signees from February had yet to get their paperwork through the NCAA Clearinghouse.

I really think that Fannation goes out of their way to find reasons to talk about miami, just so they can show that tired picture of Randy Shannon again.

I really think its the only one they have.

Who cares about the picture. Proof that convicts cant be Students!

Is this a surprise to anyone? When's the last time an athlete graduated from Miami? Anyone know?

July 24, 2008  10:14 AM ET

THUG-U!

July 24, 2008  10:15 AM ET

It's no surprise that this many Miami recruits aren't even academically eligible.

July 24, 2008  10:26 AM ET

it's a brutal reminder of how they do things in the South.

do any of u people know what your talking bout?? the ones that dont graduate are because they leave early to go to the pros...and do u think those players that didnt qualify were recruited by your favorite college team?? your ignorance makes me wonder if any of u guys could qualify....miami is no different then any other school...

Agreed. And the only photo they have is about the lamest possible photo you could ask for. He looks despondent. A team logo would be better.

July 24, 2008  11:12 AM ET

miami just passed on the 4th rated RB inthe 09 class because 1) we dont need him and 2) he doesnt have good enough grades...everyone of your favorite schools recruits or tries to recruit in south fla..and if u dont your team probaly sucks

July 24, 2008  11:57 AM ET

How in the Hell can you graduate High School and still be academically ineligible?

July 24, 2008  12:01 PM ET

pathetic.....student athletes need to score at least a 700 on the S.A.T. to qualify.

July 24, 2008  12:03 PM ET

and at some schools the requirements are higher

July 24, 2008  12:03 PM ET

I didn't expect this; I am absolutely shocked, it must be the high admission standards at Miami.

July 24, 2008  12:25 PM ET

shocking headline...

this just in from the newsdesk: people need air to breathe

July 24, 2008  12:28 PM ET

NWPA u sound really dumb....The "U" or the "NFL U" within the last two years the canes have more of their alums on NFL roster then any college or univ in the nation. Not to mention, in the past 14 years, UofM has had @ least 1 player selected in the 1st round...no other school in the nation can claim that!

You know what we DON'T do in the South? Lose to 1-AA teams. (Sorry TRUTH, and all other non-idiot Michigan fans, I couldn't let that one go.)

July 24, 2008  12:58 PM ET

whats funny is michigan hired WVU'S coach and hes notorious for his kids getting in trouble there

July 24, 2008  12:59 PM ET

I'm a lifetime Florida fan and I must admit when I found out we played Miami as part of our non-conference schedule, I wasn't too happy. Miami always has amazing athletes and now they've got a coach that knows what he's doing. I remember those early 2000's teams......And I'm afraid to see 'em again..

July 24, 2008  01:08 PM ET

if i wasnt so lazy i would try to research the different footballs teams recent arrest records...i know texas, florida, alabama, tennessee, wvu and so many more are worse but its to time consumimg..just from what i remember hearing in the paper theres alot of teams worse

hmmm... You mean High Sh\chool football players who are superstar athletes somehow managed to get good enough grades to graduate from HS but can't score a 700 on the SAT when they give you 400 points for putting your name on it...
