Sooners not sold on new offense

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops isn't sold on the no-huddle offense just yet. The Sooners spent last spring speeding up their offense by often calling plays without huddling, primarily to prepare for the NCAA's new 40-second play clock rule. OU struggled in spring practices with the no-huddle, however, culminating in six interceptions in the spring game (five in the first seven drives). Stoops said Wednesday at Big 12 media days that he's not 100 percent committed to the no-huddle and said he would even consider not using it at all if the Sooners continue to have problems refining it in the preseason.

Sam Bradford and the O-line need to be on the same page to make this happen or he'll be playing catch w/ the defense.

But, if you can get the no-huddle to work, it kills the opposing defense.

I hope it flops....I can't stand OU

Why are they having so much trouble with it? It's not rocket science.

They're probably having trouble with it due to timing. For the no-huddle to flourish, timing is the key. Timing -- baby -- timing! Everyone's got to be in sync!

It's getting funny watching college ball stealing from pro's more often these days.

Yeah, but this is just a matter of repetition. Again, this ISNT rocket science.

The problem with the no huddle is if you're not having long drives your defense is going to get wore out, yeah? So really no-huddle offenses should be used by teams cautiously and only with average and above-average defenses.

A good number of Big 12 teams will be running the no huddle and OU's defense had issues with their conditioning especially when CU beat OU last season.

As an offensive coordiantor u must think of BOTH defenses...and this type of offense almost NEVER helps YOUR own Defense..Almost NEVER

A LONG drive wears downs the opposing Defense and gives YOUR defense time to rest.....There is NO huge advantage by running a no HUDDLE that is not negated by what you do to your OWN defense. Control the ball and the clock with a solid running and passing game. The GIMMICK of NO HUDDLE is OVERRATED
