Bruins put Murray on waivers

GM Peter Chiarelli acknowledged that placing Glen Murray on unconditional waivers, the first step toward a buyout, was a challenging decision. Chiarelli stressed that placing Murray on waivers was not directly tied to Dennis Wideman's extension. "It just so happened that the two things happened at the same time," Chiarelli said. "You can't connect the two directly."

Obvious cost-cutting move.Murray is a solid player...this move could hurt the Bruins next season.

I agree on one hand. But it's hard to keep everyone from not posting. A string of F-yous would look funny if executed correctly.

Glen Murray, a work horse who's getting long on the tooth a bit but can still provide valuable services to any number of teams. He won't be unemployed for long.

Great player to watch will miss him hope he has luck else where.

Definitely.

July 24, 2008  11:32 AM ET

Depends on his salary demands. 13 goals and 30 points in 63 games ain't worth the 4.15 mil he made. If he's willing to be reasonable in his salary demands, he'll be skating in somebody's training camp.

As much disdain as he has for this guy, I'm guessin that he took work off all week. That's worth a good 3 or 4 day bender for him.

July 24, 2008  12:48 PM ET

Is still a valuable 2nd or 3rd line scorer on any team. He will probably get offers from the usual teams that chase every free agent.. Philly, Rangers.

I would like to see him added to Pittsburgh, play on either Sid's or Eugene's right wing. The guy can still snipe away from the high slot, would be a cinch to score 30 goals playing with either of them.

July 24, 2008  02:12 PM ET

I wouldn't mind seeing him in MSG....

July 24, 2008  02:30 PM ET

What if he ends up in Montreal? The Bruins and their fans will say: okay, but we took Michael Ryder from you...so there.
