Sixers to sign Bucks guard
We all knew the 76ers were negotiating to sign a couple of guards. But we didn't know about this one. Not Andre Iguodala or Lou Williams, their restricted free agents. Royal Ivey. The Sixers have reached an agreement with the 6-4 backcourt player, who spent last season with the Bucks and the first three seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks. Ivey, 26, will not officially sign a minimum-salary contract until Monday, which is believed to be for 2 years and include a significant guarantee.

"Not Andre Iguodala or Lou Williams, their restricted free agents."
Is this what journalism has become? Is it now full of people who do not know the English language?
For the uneducated, that sentence should read: Not Andre Iguodala or Lou Williams, they're restricted free agents.

Actually they're saying that their (the 76ers) free agents are Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams, not that they're (Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams) free agents. Ah, the long lost art of reading and comprehension.

Wrong. A sentance cannot start with the word 'not'. Also, identify the verb in that sentence? If there is no verb, there is no sentence. Also, the sentence before starts with 'but', which you can't do. Boys and girls, what have we learned today?...

Yes Billy, sepper is a d**c*e bag. Are you finished with trying to sound smart? Just open the NY Times, and read all of the errors in that... d**c*e bag.
And yeah, this deal is insignificant. The Sixers have already ammased a great team, now they are just working on depth.

Actually, you are referencing a lot of grammar rules that are antiquated by modern standards. Language evolves and grammar must evolve with it. Today, people write in a much more colloquial manner in order to make the text seem less stiff and formal. Not to rain on your parade, but it becomes acceptable under modern grammar to occasionally have sentence fragments, to start sentences with not and but, and to occasionally split infinitives. Just like English no longer has the formal form of "You" (thee, thou, and thine) and like people occasionally will end a sentence in a preposition. This stuff still gets taught in high school as if they were hard and fast rules, though, which leads to a lot of confused individuals.
