With football practice set to begin at Henry County on Aug 1, receiver Jamal Patterson intends to carve out enough time over the next week to make the trek to South Bend, Ind. to visit Notre Dame. Patterson's summer has included visits to Auburn, Central Florida, Clemson, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Stanford and Wake Forest.

Is it just me or is anyone else here tired of this Jamal Patterson, kid? Everytime there is a receiver recruit story on FanNation it's him. Last recruiting season FanNation was all over Michael Floyd, who ironically enough went to Notre Dame so why not Jamal follow in his footsteeps.

Just goes to show that when the leaves in South Bend rustle sportswriters start typing out their inconsequential prose.

Like you, I don't know why Patterson is drawing so much attention, except that he has exceptional strength and seems to be able to fight off blocks at the line of scrimmage and muscle the ball in traffic. He's also smart. But then again he's not particularly tall or weighty and his speed is ok. Maybe there are "intangibles." Seems like there is more press there than the kid deserves at this point.

This just in.... Jamal Patterson uses the bathroom at 6:45am everyday. Please stay tune.... we will have more BREAKING NEWS at 11!

Sexton: That was funny.

I just wonder if this kid was just overwhelmed with ole' Charlie's ring collection?
That Charlie, what a guy!

July 25, 2008  12:48 PM ET

I heard the kid challenged Charlie to a hotdog eating contest and Charlie has agreed to spot him 20.

Oh no this picture again...."Hey, last time you forgot to put extra mayo. Don't do it again!"

July 25, 2008  01:37 PM ET

Got to agree with the above sentiments. The news media fawns over any N.D. story-probably why there are so many haters.

The big question will the somewhat fighting Irish stumble as last year and take a couple of games plus to find the opponent's goal line.

So how many bowl games have they lost in a row?

July 25, 2008  03:25 PM ET

Surprising since I see no way how ND will get him. They'll take Shaq Evans out of SoCal, but I would have thought that was it. It would be nice to pick him up, but that's doubtful.

Get your digs in, things are gonna change quick

July 25, 2008  04:14 PM ET

My dig was more towards FanNation and Jamal then the program. I understand that Notre Dame will be back to winning in the next year or two when the talent grows up.

Charlie Weis is fat!

Charlie Weis is fat!

Gariboy

All you Irish haters are just jealous! (Now we have symmetrical irony.)

Dear T&R,
PLEASE find another photo to use with your Notre Dame stories.
We are tired of seeing Charlie Weis' fat 75 pound bulbous cubed-shaped head.
Thank-you, kindly.

All this attention over a possible visit?

July 25, 2008  09:31 PM ET

Mr. Watson, I agree with you ref. the Notre Dame haters. There's an old saying that says: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." I'm adding "those who can't do either become monday morning quaterbacks and whine about Notre Dame". Then they become sports writers and act like my Mother-In-Law,,,,they would have you believe the know every darn thing! Most probably the only taste of power they ever had and they have to do it anonomusly through emailing "hate mail" on the internet.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't do either become monday morning quarterbacks and, like my mother-in-law, know everything. They grow up and, with the only sense of power they ever had, become Notre Dame haters and whine about everything anonomously over the internet. Oh well, we can but feel sorry for them and hope their potty training nightmares get better.

I don't get why so many ND haters write on these posts. If you're tired of reading about ND stories than don't read them. I personally don't read Ohio St, Florida, Mich, or any other college stories and then comment on them. You know why? Because I don't care about those other colleges.....

July 26, 2008  03:51 AM ET

That's the reason coltssb, you "Domers" get so worked up, it's fun to stick it to you. I don't care about Notre Dame, but it's pure entertainment to see people who have never set foot on the campus act like someone just spat on their diplomas. "Go" whoever is playing the against "the Losing Irish" on any given Saturday!
