Lakers center Andrew Bynum was in Los Angeles earlier this week, working for the Lakers team doctors and was cleared for everything, according to his agent David Lee. Bynum is now down in Atlanta working out with his personal trainer. The Lakers, Lee said, have a standing invitation to drop in on Bynum down in Atlanta and see his progress. "As for the negotiations on Bynum's contract status, Lee said that the discussions have been tabled until September.

Good for him

July 25, 2008  07:55 AM ET

shouldnt david lee be worrying about the knicks and not managing bynum? :)

djroxalot.. yeah because big guys with knee problems is ALWAYS a good situation. I know medical procedures and recoveries are great these days but still.. major injuries to BOTH knees (he tore his other ACL in high school) is not a good thing for a guy his size. His knees will probably give him problems for the rest of his career and he's really just getting started.

And the Lakers know what I'm saying is true. That's why they're not rushing to extend him.... they wanna know what they'll be getting and how much it's worth to them

July 25, 2008  08:32 AM ET

Time for the Lakers to shake and bake...

July 25, 2008  08:38 AM ET

It's bittersweet for the Lakers. They get Bynum back, but they are losing Vujacic to a European league.
Looks as if the Lakers will always have some minor imperfections in their lineup.

They will go out and sign someone like Quinton Ross, Mickael Gelabale, Kareem Rush, or Michael Finley to add some depth at SG/SF. They will find a replacement easilly.

Heat Fan stop hating. Anyway, I hope Bynum is really healthy because the Lakers are going to need him to be that difference maker.

July 25, 2008  09:40 AM ET

Whoever predicted him to be back in 4-6 weeks needs kicked in the balls.

July 25, 2008  09:59 AM ET

it took stoutamire a full season after to regain his form......
Bynum is a BIGGER man- might take him even longer

July 25, 2008  10:48 AM ET

Vujacic signing w/ the Euro league hurts b/c of his offense. But we can find someone to fill I think...

What has been up with the lack of activity so far though? I get that we are in the luxary-tax & all, but solid players have been signing with other teams, players that I thought would fit. Why so quiet?

July 25, 2008  11:00 AM ET

laker fans should be really worried if is knee doesnt hold up....or the championship run might be in jepoprady

July 25, 2008  11:29 AM ET
